I need help. everything was fine and im weaning off my antidepressants.
but everything has turned to crap again. i started with my boyfriend... but i just, i give up on him. i've tried helping him but he won't let me. he's only pulling me into his spiral

I'm an 18 year old female. been with my boyfriend over 9 months.

Hi Fire,

I am glad that you are not letting your boyfriend get you down. That is smart. If he pulls you into his spiral, you will lose your objectivity. So keep up the good work.

You have us now and that will help you.

Do you get any regular exercise like walking or biking? I find that this helps me keep the funk at bay and raises my mood. Hope this helps you.

hi to you fire. me i play music, tonight i am revisiting an old band, saxon, my music keeps me alive, there is a wonderful pool of compassion here at the dep forum, pls keep posting, do the things that will keep you energised and focused, all the best to you, jamie, male 37.

Hi Fire, I agree with all of the above. It's important not to get caught up in your boyfriend's downward spiral, because as much as you want to help him, it seems (from your post) that he is not yet in a place where he wants/is ready for your help. I find that going for walks helps me, too, and so does music. Both of those are very therapeutic and can change your mood and your outlook. Please keep posting with us and let us know how you're doing.

Hello "fire"...

In my experience, relationships can very hard and draining when your when your psyche is in need of nourishment (weak). Whether that nourishment comes from meds, spirituality, or just "me" time. That might sound a little selfish, but its more important to take take of YOU, before anyone else.

As hard as it may be, may I suggest some downtime for yourself to collect your thoughts and feelings about your partner. No relationship will work if you are not feeling up to it.

With me, when I can't get myself together, I just don't have the capacity to help someone else.
