Hey everybody,

It is cold here today, snowing and a little windy.  What is the weather like where you are?  I am already sick of winter and have a lot more to endure.  I hope that mother nature goes easy on us this year.

It is better today, the other night it got down to -17 F. Today it is actually a little above zero and the sun is shining. The good thing is we don't have a lot of snow. You don't have to shovel cold. :-)

-17 Jon, whew, that is cold. I am not looking forward to that, but I know it will be coming. We usually get weather like that in January and February. Sometimes even March, though March is usually a windy month here, we get cold windchills.

Hi Karen.  I love the title of your post.  It reminded me of the posts that you and Kitt used to start about wanting Spring.  Granted I'm only at 22 degrees right now and have no snow.....but that wind chill out there goes right through me!   I know it is only going to get colder and there's much snow to come.  And I'm not looking forward to it! shakehead

We've already got it, over a foot, boo hoo.  But that is a part of life in Northern Michigan.  Guess I couldn't have expected anything less.  Though a couple of years ago I remember it being 70 on a day in January.  Now that would be nice... lol...

Glad to see you posting.  Glad to hear that you are going to be around for a while too.  We have missed you.

It is cold here!!  I am not liking this at all......need a beachscool

After christmas it can get warm and all this snow can melt!!  More coming our way which we will happily send your way!!

I will be ready for it.  We had a ton of snow last winter.  I was hoping that it would not be as bad this year.  It sure is a lot of work, but good exercise.  If only I could get out and cross country ski like I use to.  It is a lot of fun in the winter, but boy is it ever work out.

that is sad. fire season here-well the beginning of. last year was very sad for many many lives were lost. mother nature deserves much more respect than she is given. jamie

No snow here, but it's UGLY raining and cold here. (cold for GA that is) At least this year it will actually feel like Christmas. Some years it'll be in the 40s or 50s on Christmas, which is really strange.

We have 28 inches of snow here.  It FINALLY stopped coming down last night around 11:30.  (Started on Friday evening at 4:00!)  Of course, everything is closed, no one is going out, kids are loving it.  (It's up over my daughter's bum ... hilarious to watch her walk in it!)

This is the biggest snow we've had in this area for 5 years ... and it's not so terribly bitter cold or windy .. just DEEP and inconvenient. 

The bummer is that my Christmas shopping isn't done ... uh oh ....  not sure when that will happen .. especially since we're supposed to get MORE SNOW starting on Tuesday.  It'll work out ... I'm sure.

The hardest part for me is that I'm snowed in with my husband, and we don't really get along.  I think we both feel financially trapped in this marriage ... with three kids and a big mortgage and a huge debt.  He keeps wanting to be intimate, and I keep wanting to be in another room.  He's not kind or compassionate with my sons (from a previous marriage) but he is with our daughter.  That has driven a huge wedge between us over the past years, and I just can't 'get over it'.  Every time he snaps at them or talks negatively about them I just get more and more dissapointed in my choice to marry him. 

On the up side, the boys got snowed in with their DAD this weekend ... so I miss them terribly, but at least they aren't trapped here with the strife and tension! 

It's a whole new kind of cold in my house .... has nothing to do with the weather though.

It sounds so cute when you talk about your daughter being up to her bum in snow.  You are very descriptive in your writing, it was interesting to read.

I am sorry that you and your husband are going through such difficulties.  Financial matters can really put a strain on a marriage.  I hope that things work out for you both. 

I am also sorry that he doesn't treat your son's as if they were his own, or maybe he does, but it sounds like he is a little harsh with them.  What are their ages?  Maybe he is trying to teach responsibility to them.  I hope he softens up though so that they feel love from both parents in the home.  Being with their bio dad is cool.  And being trapped in snow will give them some bonding.  So that is a win win situation there. 

Thanks for posting on this thread.  We don't have as much snow as you.  But we have a lot.  I hope that you are able to get your Christmas shopping done.  I did mine in October.  I started working after seven years of not and I was able to buy things early.  So that stress is gone.  Just waiting to see the grandkids so that I can give them their gifts.  Hopefully shortly after the holiday as they are going to their other grandmas for Christmas day. 

If you would like to, feel free to start another thread about this, we would be so happy to try to help you with this situation.  It deserves talking about.  Or continue here, whatever you feel comfortable with.

It's been snowy today. We had a "storm" supposedly. It wasn't that bad if you ask me. But I HATE snow!

Hi All.  Okay, thanks to last night's storm I now have snow.  LOTS and LOTS of snow!  And its quite cold, but not yet to the point where I can't handle it.

I did have fun today though because of it.  My ten year old daughter volunteered to come help me shovel, and my 14 pound dog, who is a mini-Schnoodle had so much fun playing in the snow.  My daughter was laughing and playing with with her as she was literally jumping up and down like a bunny through and over snow mounds.  In fact, I had to watch her carefully to make sure I didn't lose her in the snow.  It was a fun day with no hassles.  We certainly don't get many like that!

I am so glad that you were able to get out with your daughter and your pup and enjoy the snow.  I use to cross country ski and I loved winter.  I miss that.  I didn't go last year, but every year I try.  So hopefully this will be the year that I go.

Thanks for bumping this up.  We have been in a super cold spell too.  Hope it goes away soon.  The nights have been way below 0 and the days not much above.  I wish we could wish the winter away.  I use to cross country ski and never felt cold, even on the cold days.  Guess it had to do with better circulation.  Hopefully I will be at it again.  It makes winter so much more bearable.  Didn't go last year at all.  Just stayed inside. 

I hope that you are having a good day today.  Stay warm.  Where I work, there are a lot of snowmobilers coming in.  They love this weather, but they have the gear to wear to stay warm.  Not me.  They look like aliens when they come into the store with their helmets on and all that gear. lol...

We had -33 F Friday night. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. We haven't been close to zero for 4 days now. Winter sucks.
