Didn't get job I interviewed for

It's been over 9 months since I last worked. I finally found a job in my field (xray) and applied and interviewed for it. The interview went so well, they even did a drug test. I really thought I was going to get it.

Just found out today that they interviewed one other person and he had experience in an orthopedic office, so he was better suited for the job.

I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up, but I did. It had been so long since I interviewed, and I really want to be working again.

Now I'm sad. I feel rejected, and I just don't know when I'm going to get a job again. I'm tired of leaning on my parents financially, tired of not having money, not being able to do anything. It just sucks, and I don't see an end in sight. I've applied at retail jobs, haven't heard back, and just don't know where else to look.

Awww Becky,

I am sorry that you didn't get the job that you wanted. As for the retail jobs, I would continue to bug them. That is what I had to do. I bothered them just about every day and it got me the job. So make sure that you call them or stop in when you can. They write down when you do that and they know that you are interested.

I am so glad that you posted. Have been wondering where you have been. You will find a job. Hopefully in your field. Keep trying and don't give up. Don't feel helpless or hopeless, there is always hope. You are a fine person and you will find the job that is suited for you.

Sorry to hear that you did not get the job, but don't give up!!!!! I haven't worked for the last 3 years and finally went on my first job interview and surprisingly I got the job, but I am really scared that I am going to mess this up like I always do.....

Just don't give up and keep looking for other positions. and I will try to stay positive on my new job.

Thanks to both of you. I know this sounds bad, but I've never had an interview and not gotten the job. I don't mean to sound conceited or anything, it's just that I'm confident in my job and what I'm capable of in that respect....so it's new to me to search and search and FINALLY interview then not get it. I know there's something out there, I'm just getting frustrated with time going by and nothing happening. It's just a bad day today...but thank you both for responding and listening to me vent. I appreciate it!

been over 9 years since i have worked. will be looking mid year myself. thus i will brush up on everything, incl my anxiety at interviews!! hang in there becky. with care and kindness, jamie
