heres the case, when i was 16 i was diagnosed with depression, i was on wellbutrin for that, by the time i was 18 i decided i didn't need pills to make me better and so forth, ill be 26 in a week, and i just recently went through a mental breakdown on halloween, after getting out of the hospital i decided i really need medication to help me with anxiety on thing, and just stress on the most part, also always feeling down about
my self, anyways here i am 5 months latter and a little tweaking with the medicine i think we finally got it. but..... i put on almost 30lbs from the depakote er and i can literally grab handfuls of hair in the shower from my head, is that normal? also with the weight gain, no matter what i eat, or exercise, the weight just stays the same, is there some sort of pill to speed up my metabolism? I read on some forums that it would have to be no caffeine in it due to the fact i could have a panic attack?
and this is how we started the medication
1.citalopram 20mg
2.citalopram 30mg
3.citalopram 30mg/500mg depakote er
4.citalopram 30mg/1000mg depakote er
5.citalopram 40mg/1000mg depakote er
6.citalopram 40mg/1500mg depakote er
i feel good with who i am now. i still get a little frustrated sometimes, other than that im happy a lot, also tired to, anyways do you think this is a good combination?

hi 7878, all new meds require some tweaking. keep your doc informed. the hair is a tad worrying. this could be something else? it could be the new combo as well? thus look into it. sadly weight gain happens to a lot of people on anti-depressants, thus keep talking with your doc. could be an adjustment that is required. from what i have read in your post it is helping, thus maybe some little tweaking. welcome to the forum, i wish you well, jamie

Hi Logiks,
Welcome to the forum. You have come to a good place. I agree with Jamie, tweaking is needed. Call your doc and get your meds straightened out for what is right for you. This is trial and error. Don't give up.
Take care,
Hugs, Karen

I have to take them forever too. I don't like that thought, but I try not to think of it. One day at a time, is all we can do. Best wishes to you.

ok so i been doing good except for the fact of last night, my g/f has been sick with strept throught all week, shes been sleeping alot cause i dont wanna get sick, she called me yesterday morning and last night to wish me a happy bday, she ended up falling asleep on the phone, i got a text message saying check my facebook, her laptop broke so she made an effort to send me a few e-cards and leave me alot of love, i got mad and was like "y didnt u call and talk to me, i been wanting to talk to u all day" and it ended up being this hudge blowout which was my fault... what could of caused this?

I don't know what caused this, unless it was because you wanted to talk to her in person. But realize that she is sick right now. Try to control your temper. This could lead to more problems. Take life with stride, let things roll off of your back. You will be far more happy.

I am glad that you are feeling better now. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing. It is hot here today and I am miserable. Who ever thought that it would be over 80 degrees on the first day of April. And I hope nobody pulled any April Fools on you. I didn't get any.hahaha

It is suppose to be 84 degrees here today in Michigan. It was in the 80's yesterday too. Too hot for so early. But better than snow, which I have seen before this time of year.
You sound good, I am happy for that. Keep up the good work.
