I'm 14 years old and I've been depressed for the past several months. I feel like I need to tell someone, but I don't know how to approach my friends and family. No one knows I'm depressed because I put on an act at school and home so that my friends and family won't be concerned. My dad will freak out and think it's his fault somehow, and my step-mom will probably brush it off. My friends with think that I'm just trying to get attention and will ignore it, along with probably ignoring me. And my friends make fun of mental illnesses all the time, so how am I supposed to tell them I have one?
Please help ASAP because I have school tomorrow and I need to do something soon!
Endless thanks and blessings,
Alice

FIrst of all ... What seems to be the main issue.. what has you so depressed... close your eyes and think of what makes you sad...

Probably stress from school. I have a 4.15 GPA and I am determined to maintain that. I often overwork myself and think of myself as not smart enough to become a doctor, which is what I have dreamed of for my entire life.
I also am having a lot of friend issues as of Friday last week. I'm very unsure of who my friends are. If you want to read the entire story, I have it on my previous post. I don't want to waste space on this one just to copy information. The post is called "confused and scared. I need help. PLEASE comment!!!!"
Thanks,
Allison

I read your post and it seems the web has struck again.. True friends will always forgive and move on... other might not.. As for your GPA I have to say good job and i understand your trust issues but a helping hand every once and a while is worth a try... A very important factor on your DOctor comment... A true Doctor doesn't need only intelligence.. They need heart.. Seems you have that due to the fact from your concerns of your friends towards you.. School will always be stressful but it will end and then your career begins.. lean on Best friends for help....
How is your relationship with your dad....?

I'm really close with my dad. We talk a lot but I often feel like we don't go far below the surface. We tell each other we love each other, but we both get pretty uncomfortable in super mushy situations. And I feel like he worries about me a lot, so I don't like to confess any problems I'm having to him. But we're still very close.
