To Damaged Goods 41:
I suffered severe depression a couple of years ago after my son returned from Iraq (after being hit by a roadside bomb) and threatened me, in our home (he had a loaded Glock .45 on him when he threatened me). Two Psychiatrists, one Psychologist and over 50 books later, I am totally cured and, by happenstance, cured the girlfriend of an old friend of mine of depression, anxiety and with problems coping.
I learned from my reading that the main cause of depression is a lack of ionic magnesium. Magnesium is needed for seratonin and all the other brain "chemicals." It turns out that any stress, physical or mental, causes us to excrete magnesium (the more the stress, the more the excretion) and causes the brain and natural mood chemicals to go awry. For a long time, you can be in a "magnesium deficiency shadow" which will also affect you physically with headaches and cramps, etc.
From my reading I found that magnesium was probably the answer, but noted that some books (M.D.s) recommended the wrong kind of magnesium that doesn't get absorbed. When I found the right kind, I could almost feel it working! I got myself cured about
a year ago, and then heard of my old friend's girlfriend's issues. I made a recommendation and he bought some for her. I had never talked to her before, but she called me a couple of weeks ago to thank me... she said she feels like a different person! My old friend said that her behavior is markedly changed and she's a lot more fun to be with without any of the bizarre behavior of the past couple of years.
The best magnesium I found - they say it has the power of a hypo of magnesium when used correctly. I know it worked for me and Nancy says she takes it three times a day now!
