ALOHA, Oregon (AP) -- A woman who called 911 to get "the cutest cop I've seen" sent back to her home got a date all right -- a court date.

The same sheriff's deputy arrested her on charges of misuse of the emergency dispatch system.

Washington County Sheriff's Sgt. David Thompson told KGW-TV of Portland it all started with a noise complaint called in last month by neighbors of Lorna Jeanne Dudash. The deputy sent to check on the complaint knocked on her door then left.

Thompson said Dudash then called 911, asking that the "cutie pie" deputy return. (Watch to hear parts of the call and see how Dudash explained her actions -- :52)

"He's the cutest cop I've seen in a long time. I just want to know his name," Dudash told the dispatcher. "Heck, it doesn't come very often a good man comes to your doorstep."

After listening to some more, followed by a bit of silence, the dispatcher asked again why Dudash needed the deputy to return.

"Honey, I'm just going to be honest with you, OK? I just thought he was cute. I'm 45 years old, and I'd just like to meet him again, but I don't know how to go about doing that without calling 911," she said.

"I know this is absolutely not in any way, shape or form an emergency, but if you would give the officer my phone number and ask him to come back, would you mind?"

The deputy returned, verified that there was no emergency and arrested her for misusing the 911 system, an offense punishable by a fine of up to several thousand dollars and a year in jail.

Thompson said Thursday it was the first case he knew of in which someone called the emergency line for such a personal reason.

"That's taking up valuable time from dispatchers who could be taking true emergency calls," he said.

I cannot stand such blatant idiocy. I hope to god that I never meet this woman, or anyone of a comparable IQ. tongue

Ahh, well. Stupidity is part of human nature. Can never doubt that.

Heh, I'm amused too. The poor woman is in her 40's and just desperate (and stupid), I suppose. 

 

So, here's some more info, from a guy who got to hear about this stupid S on the local news: She was arrested for this. She thinks that being arrested for this is unfair... Stupid Wh

And you would think that after 45 years she would have learned some sensibility. Calling 911 for a cute guy... nono


This type of comments really pisses me off.. mad   Making judgements over other people unwittingly making unlawfull mistakes.  After reading and watching about a woman misusing a 911 call to get a date with a cop, I'll have to admit it was a dumb mistake.  I just don't like the way people making critisisms about situations like this..  First of all I think IT IS unfair that she got arrested for making that call.  She could at least got a citation or a warning.  It's not like the woman commit sexual assault or exposing herself.  Some people would do something like that or worse and get away with it.  All this poor woman did is call 911 just to get the officer's name because she's very lonely, and gets treated like she commited murder.  I think the cop who arrested her is a total @$$#01& and is probably married with kids anyway..  I feel so bad for this woman going though something like this, it must be so embarrassing...  blush    I can understand her situation, I'm a lonely woman in 40s myself.  cry I'm so sickened by these type of people's behavior..  It shows that these people are very careless, vile, pathetic, and immature..  People like that, I'm better off alone..

Hey Christian...I dialed 911 instead of 411 by mistake (fibro fog) and hung up when I heard 'What is your emergency."  Wrong thing to do...there was a cop at my door in ten minutes and even after explaining my mistake I was told if it ever happened again I would be fined.  I understand the misuse of 911...it was just in our paper that some woman called 911, told the operator she was having chest pains and when she arrived at the hospital in an ambulance (at taxpayers expense I might add) it turned out she just wanted a pregnancy test.  Jail and a fine.

I was just probably upset because I was imagining myself in her place and being ridiculed over that type of situation. Dialing 911 for a date was a dumb thing to do, but she didn't mean any harm and she shouldn't have gotten arrested for it. Also she didn't deserve to be ridiculed by immature individuals.. If that were me I probably kill myself.

Sorry, but I have to point that one out......we want to keep HW a nice, family friendly place to go onto. Karen (gettingby) may edit your post if she finds it inappropriate. Me personally I'm not sure about this post.....it's not exactly convenient for this forum even though I do see where you are coming from with what you have wrote; yeah harsh punishment for a simple mistake.....I agree it's bad......harsh punishment should be for those who HAVE commited an offensive and severe crime against the law. I totally agree.

I understand your perspective and even empathize with the woman's embarrassment. Have not all of us done some thing embarrassing in trying to get the attention of someone we are interested in. Trying to limit my embarrassment factor now, with no stories...LOL
I was wondering if someone would point out that you were flaming someone for just doing their job. People do not understand what is to be a police officer, and that is what I would like to enlighten you to the special issues that can happen when people try to hook up with you on the job, which is not generally legal for law enforcement officers to do with someone accused of offending (like she was).

I am not saying this to be mean and I do not mean to embarrass you, and I apologize if it comes off that way, but I want you to know the other person's point of view. How would you feel if someone died, because someone used an emergency phone line in trying to get a date with you, and someone who really needed help could not get thru. Ever called 911 and got a busy signal? ...It Happens, and that is why she was arrested.

I just want to remind you of what are the issues that law enforcement officers have to deal with, because being a police officer is a demanding, generally depressing, and stressful job. Officers put their lives on the line every day, are constantly being called to situations that other people would never want to deal with, and may see disturbing scenes of violence and death. And I think you can see how calling an emergency line for a date would be justification for arrest given that it puts the puts people at risk.

I am again not saying this to be mean, but to peel back the layers. This is something that happened four years ago this August. She was was sentenced to serve two years of probation and 100 hours of community service, and pay $693 in fines and fees. When she could have gone to jail and have to pay thousands of dollars worth of fines. So I think she got off pretty compassionately considering what could have happened. She just got arrested, she did not serve any jail time. She probably got arrested more for need to get checked out, because she did have such a lack of judgement. It is logical to wonder if she was ill, something really bad was going on, and the best thing to do is get her out of the situation, and into protected area by arresting her.

Please, do not get so upset that you feel like you would have hurt yourself. We care and we want to empower you to have strength to be able to fight those kind of thoughts off.

Like I said I am not saying this to be mean, and I apologize if it comes off that way.

I know what that woman did was totally wrong and I'm not saying that people shouldn't go to jail for breaking the law.  It just bothers me that people are judging certain others stupidity.. it comes to show that people have to be more carefull about laws b/c if you break them they will go to jail even if they don't mean any harm and they will also be mocked for stupidity regardless.  It's a good thing it wasn't me I wouldn't have tolerated People mocking me for my stupidity for breaking the law, that's why I watch reality cop shows. I was just upset at the situation because I was imagining myself in her place and I did something stupid like that because I done a lot of stupid things in the past and also been treated like crap (even though I never broken the law). I don't know anything bout that woman's lifestyle, she could be a P for all I know. I may have gotten carried away. I do have to admit the woman is stupid for showing her face on camera I wouldn't want to be seen if I got arrested for doing something stupid.  I'm just glad it wasn't me..

I understand why you were upset. But what we have to learn is to not let what other people say upset us so much. And I think that you have come to realize that. People can be cruel and when they say things on a blog, they really don't know who is going to read it. So try to learn not to let what other people say hurt you. It just isn't worth it. You are a good person and there are a lot of unthinking people in this world. But there are some good people also. Try to stick with them.
