Have used it, not for those reasons. Did easily quit smoking a pack a day because I did not do my usual, habitual, thing of going out to the porch when I was bored or at a loss of what to do next. Was a compulsive shopper, a binge eater, and maybe outgrew the shopping, smartened up about the binge eating.
Constipated, some, started taking stool softeners OTC, 2 in the evening with lots of water. Cut back if I am eating a lot of fruit, like watermelon.
Not supposed to be a weight gaining med.
Conquered my binge eating by not having those things in the house. Was eating quarts of yogurt in one sitting, same with cottage cheese, cartons of ice cream. Stopped buying them altogether. It was hard going to the fridge and my friends were not there waiting for me. So, began binging on fresh fruit, limited myself to one banana, nectarine, plum, etc. per day. If I overate those, I ran out right away, although they were lower in calories and healthier.
Vegetables are your friend. You can binge on them to your heart's content, but no dip. Balsamic vinegar sprinkled on is good. Its quick to cut up a whole cucumber, chop the ends off, slice it, half the slices, put all in a bowl and "pig out". Nice to have in the fridge ready to go ahead of time, fix 2. Raw carrots, just take the bag out and cut the ends off so they're ready. Eating the skins slows you down. Good roughage for the constipation. Tomatoes, fantastic, eat like an apple, or get cherry or grape tomatoes. Celery, whack off the root end, chop in 3 (as a whole bunch), place in a plastic container in water, uncovered. Hated peeling and preparing. Can do it quick now. Use a big knife.
Found that I am never hungry, just want something, and if my friends are there, thats what I'll hit. Since implementing this plan, am really NEVER hungry, just don't ever feel full, which is not a necessity as I never reach full, no matter how much I eat, its so delicious I want more.
Lost 20#, 1#/wk, then it stopped. Problem? No exercise, don't go out of the house in my current state of depression. Joined Curves, free if you have Medicare Secure Horizons, called Silver Sneakers, ha ha. That's my next goal. They offer a free wk. to anyone. Claim you burn 500 cal/wkout. Impressive.
My friend states that she eats a litttle dry fruit every day for IBS, advice from her doctor. Don't know.
Hope these suggestions and my experience helps you. I have at least 50# to go. I am confident that it can happen when I next begin to exercise. It has been recommended to start walking 5 min. 3x/day, for a wk, increase to 10, then 15. Better than nothing.
