cipralex, side effects...

Hi I was wondering about side effects of cipralex my father started taking this drug for anxiety 9 days ago but the side effects are terrible can't sleep shakes paces and the anxiety is alot worse just wondering if anyone else has had these side effects from this drug . Talked to pharmasist and they say just keep taking it and it should get better but I don't know how long he will be able to take all these side effects has anyone else had this trouble and if so how long till things started to get better any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I think it will take a good couple of weeks for the side effects to go away. Each day it should be less and less. If after a couple of weeks they don't go away I suggest he talk to the doctor. I just hope that he can hang on long enough to get the benefits of the medication. It takes about six to eight weeks for a medication like that to reach it's full potential. But he could start feeling better before then.

  • Change in appetite
  • Anxiety or restlessness
  • Sleep abnormalities
  • Dizziness
  • Shaking
  • Prickling of the skin
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Vomiting
  • Dry mouth
  • Sweating
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Sexual dysfunction or decreased libido
  • Fatigue
  • Fever

I would agree with Karen to give the med a fair chance and if your Dad has continued sx talk with his Dr.

Thanks for your help I appreciate it he has decided to cut the pill in half and take it in the morning instead of the evening so now he will b on only 5mg instead of 10 and try that for awhile and see if he feels better every day seems to be worse than better. Such a bad time of yr. not much of a Christmas feeling that way. Again Thanks for your reply very nice of you take time out to answer.
