It was suggested that we start a progress thread for various reasons as there are members who are working on getting better in different areas.  I hope that all of you can take an oppertunity to post here with your different things that you are working on.  Whether it be your weight, chlosterol, depression or anything. 

It was stated that if others are doing the same thing, that it makes it easier for us to keep posting.  So I hope that you all join in.  Set your goals, and keep your progress here.  I hope that this works.

Trying to get healthy, lose a few pounds, keeping active, gain endurance. Try to keep better in touch with people I care about. Work harder on progressing in my career. I hope I can accomplish some of these things, especially the weight loss.

Working very very hard on progressing my career so I can be a teacher. Pushing myself a little harder each day so I will have the strength to be a good teacher and lead a class. Working hard on looking like a professional while still being me (hard combination to get right). Being honest with myself. Proving doctors wrong and losing a bit of weight and exercising a bit more so it doesn't tire me out so much playing with my nephews. Also working hard on my strength so the IVF I am going through has a better chance of working-if it worked it would make me the happiest person alive though right now it's tough and making me sad, there's still hope.

Setting small targets and celebrating that achievement and then setting another small target is a great way of moving forward and building yourself a new life. I have such big goals now, because I started with the really small easy ones such as leaving the house for 2 hours a week to do a college course that was far too easy for me, but getting told I was a super fast worker who got things right a lot boosted my confidence quite a lot. Now I'm hardley ever in the house.

My goal is kind of strange. We have been offered to move into an apartment at our son and dil's. We would be around the grandkids all fo the time. That would be wonderful. But I love where I live now and have always been here, most of my life anyway. So this is a hard decision. I haven't seen the inside of the apartment yet. So this is something to think about. It is a big step for me. I love the area that we may be moving to. It always makes me feel god when I am there. So within a week I should know whether or not I want to move. I will keep you all posted. Big step for me.

well i just wanted to bump this back up, but i am starting my new diet/life plan, went to the doctor today to get labs done, plus thyroid profile, etc.... I'm pretty sure i know what the results will be and what i have to do about them. THe weather is finally starting to cooperate so i will be able to exercise more frequently. Just trying to keep the motivation going

have a ganglian cist (sp?) on my foot, but it doesn't bother me so doc said don't worry about it till it does, got a crown put on a tooth, tooth started to hurt so i'm on anibiotics that will hopefully kill the infection, and PLEASE not make me get a root canal.  Trying to get all my health/doc in order, glad the suns out!

Oh, gettingby, you do have a big decision to make. Speaking as a
grandmother, too, I adore my two grandchildren, but being with them all the time? I don't know. One of my doctors says "you grandparents; you have the children for an evening and have a wonderful playtime with them and then send them home to us to do the work!" There was
some truth in that, because having playtime for a couple of hours is
wonderful, but having them every day and being with them all of the time? You are much stronger than I am, gettingby.

Did all of this happen following the fire?

Thanks for bumping this up. I am glad to see you using it. I think it is important to write about our goals, and watch our progress. I hope that you don't have to get a root canal too. I have had one. Not much fun, but it does help the situation.

The fire happened after. We are just waiting for electrical inspection and the guy hasn't come yet, until then we are running on a generator. Expensive I tell you. But what can you do? One day at a time I guess. That is what I always tell everybody else. So I have to follow my own advice. I have a lot of things that were damaged that I have to clean up. Soot is the culprit. Will be working on that soon.

I know you have much to do. I am very sorry this happened to you and wish there were something I could do to help but know that you will make the best decisions wherever you are.

progress made today. i made it to school and got some things partly done. lecturer got my e-mail. all good a few people are behind. so now, study hard and finish a few modules. thx, jamie

Yay bout your sugars jamie i know its hard to keep all of that under control!
Hope the inspection guy comes soon karen and good luck with cleanup hope you have a lot of hands to help you.
This progress thing sounds fun.... For me was able to go for a morning walk and stay in control of my anxiety long enough to stay for an entire b-day party. And am planning to restart my zumba routine it was so much fun and really works (im not a great dancer so when the moves are hard just jump around like a goober til there is something i can do.) Helps keep the mean reds away....

I got my power back on late the other night. So happy. Taking a week to relax and then tackle the job of cleaning up. Got to get the soot out. Pretty thick. But will be working on it. I am proud of you for zumba. Do what you can. I just sometimes dance around the house to music. When nobody is there but me and the dogs. lol...

Let's keep this thread going. Happy for you Jamie with your blood sugar.

Finishing up my 3/4 semesters for RN. Drink too much, and it has been self identified as my main causal for ADHD, depression. My exercise plan has been great and follow it well, great way to get rid of stress. Need to go to AA, but still playing the denial game. I am so mad that I may have to quit something that I enjoy! Why can't I just control it!? But it has caused so much family trouble over the years, I should be a proponent of sobriety by now. Guess I am too selfish to care.
So, progress WILL be made. I do not like to be controlled by anything. -dB

I was dx with RA last year, can't tolerate many meds, and it's in my right hand I'm right handed
it has started to affect me for my cross-stitch and needlework, I signed up for a needlepoint seminar
for August and looking forward to going, I got the advance class that I wanted and sure
hope to be able to needlepoint. I do plan on taking breaks of course...it's a three
day class/ all day each day, but I'm going to do my best to be able to get thru this
just fine, that's my goal which I plan to succeed in doing...

bumping this up again, talked to the Doc today about my bloodwork, its not too bad, but there are def. things to work on. Thyroid is OK a little high but still in normal range, weight is not good, BP is ok, Colesterol is a little high. Time to get out and exercise and change the diet. Weekly weigh-ins i think will do to help keep track of things. Just gotta find some more motivation!

We all need motivation. I think with the weather getting nicer, we will all feel better.
