Hello Everyone
Been on medication for a couple of months now and it has taken the edge off, but I still do have days of extreme panic, it's almost like I know it's still there but it's "below the surface" now if that makes sense!
It concerns me that I might never be able to manage without the pills.. still it's early days I suppose. I have now had my first appointment come through for counselling never done this before my doctor is convinced it will help, and I know I can't get through it on my own but am more than a bit nervous about
talking with a total stranger. Can anyone else let me know what to expect and perhaps be willing to tell me how it helped them?
Thanks in advance and I wish every one of you well out there - until this happened to me I had no idea how much it takes to deal with.
All the best
Ordinary Joe.

Hey Joe,
Therapy is great. Especially if you have a good therapist. It helps me, I go regularly. I have to take medications too. And always will, but I try not to think about
it and just take it one day at a time. That is the best that you can do.
It becomes easy to talk to this person because it is professional and you don't know them. They are a sounding board to you and they give you good feedback. So give it a go and see how it goes. If you are uncomfortable, there are always other therapists that you can try. Keep going till you find the right fit.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
PS Welcome to the forum.
Hugs, Karen

i had similar feelings about
gowing to therapy. But once you get into the office and settle down a little and you get to know your therapist its really a great experience (provided you have a good therapist). I think the therapy helped me 2x as much as the meds do. My experince was more about
giving me the tools to deal with my anxiety/depression and not so much just going in and going through my week and how i felt. There was some of that but it was more geared toward, Ok you felt this after whatever happened here is how to deal with that emotion and get out of the depression, type of stuff. Its really a life saver, good luck and keep us posted

Hi Geosojda
Thanks for your encouragement I hope I have the same experience and the therapy is as good or better than the medication. I wouldn't like to think that I would always have to take the pills just to get back some kind of normality. It does help to post on the forum because at least everyone really understands what it's like to deal with. I was always so in control that it really shakes you up when something like this hits.
Thanks once again - greatly appreciate you taking the time to reply I'll keep you posted.
