Hello and welcome to HealingWell. You sound like you are describing my own feelings as I have been where you are and I still slip back there from time to time. It is easy to feel that things will not get any better. This is not true. I have been dealing with depression and anxiety for 29 years and I refurse to give up.
Challenge your negative thinking with positive statements and realistic thinking. When encountering thoughts that make you feel fearful or depressed, challenge those thoughts by asking yourself questions that will maintain objectivity and common sense.
I for one find that there are times when I'm not living in the moment, thinking about the past or the future excessively, it can be overwhelming. The problem with the mind wandering, I find is it globalizes, and starts to become overwhelmed, or I've found I've personally felt guilty or overwhelmed by what I'm not doing and what needs to be done, then it just leads to thinking in the future or past and not in the moment, which sometimes leads to procrastination, which brings the whole cycle full circle.
"The past is never there when you try to go back. It exists, but only in memory. To pretend otherwise is to invite a mess." ~ Chris Cobbs
Stay in the moment and look for something new to help you feel better. You will be OK.
Kindly,
Kitt
