So tragic ;(

I set out to do some shopping today but only got down the street when I came across a horrible accident...a girl was laying face down in the middle of the road, then I looked across the street and saw a boy was sprawled out near the sidewalk, with people gathering around him. It took me a second to realize what was happening. They had both been hit by a truck...I started crying and hyperventilating, got out of the car and went over to the girl. She was bleeding from her head and nose, and we didnt know if she was even alive ;( I sat down next to her and she started twitching and convulsing some, but she couldn't talk when we spoke to her. People had already called the police and ambulance, so they were on their way. Me and two other ladies sat by the girl and tried to tell her it would be ok though she probably couldn't hear us. I just hope she had some comfort with us there :(

When the ambulance came they went straight for the girl, and didn't even rush over to the boy ;( That's when I realized for sure that he was dead. The girl was 15 and the boy 17. I don't know if she will survive, now she's in critical care at the hospital. It's the scariest and saddest thing I've ever seen ;( I can't believe it. It just makes me think about how fragile and precious life is, this may be the only one we get.

Thank you...yeah it's so horrible, I still can hardly believe it ;( I feel so much for those two poor kids and what their families must be going through. I wish I could have done more, but I guess there's nothing more I could have done. I'll never forget what I saw...it was so awful. I will talk to my therapist about it when I go on Friday :(

Glad you had the strength to sit with her. If she heard you or not, your heart was in the right place. Some part of her felt your comforting presence. Being a parent, I know her parents would be glad to know you were the by her side. Glad you will be able to talk this over with your therapist.

A friend of my daughter's died suddenly of brain aneurysm on xmas day(16 yr old)-so hard when they are young...I cannot imagine.

This may stay with you for a little while. It is always good to go slow where there are a lot of people. Especially young kids. That must of been terrible to witness. I feel badly for you. I hope that you feel better soon.

From first hand experience Elfy, it will stay with you a while, but really take this to heart. She is likely to have heard every word you said, the hearing normally goes last, and you would have given her the strength to be able to keep fighting rather than slipping away. What you did was amazing, so now as you pass the same area, tell yourself that, you did an amazing thing by being present when it really mattered to a very scared young girl. (This will help change the feeling of sadness when you pass this area)

Are you sure the boy passed away, they go staight to the one that needs the urgent care which is normally the one that is quiet.

Over the next few weeks, you need to be really kind to you Elfy, be patient with you, slow down and be kind to you. It will take time, and time needs time, but you will be able to cope with this given time too.

Elf...Don't be so hard on yourself I think you are a hero....alot of people would not have been as caring. Be proud of yourself you did a wonderful thing.
