I don't think I've posted much on this forum.
This morning, I woke up feeling very depressed, mostly because of a dream I had. I had been dating this guy but he dumped me because he wasn't ready for a relationship. We still talk and he's usually the first person I go to when something's wrong or there's big news and vice versa. In my dream, I dreamed that he started seeing someone else and I was devastated, since that would mean that it wasn't that he didn't want a relationship...it'd be that he didn't want me. I know it was a dream, but I can't shake the feeling I had when I woke up. I haven't spoken to him about
the dream.
Does anyone else have their moods influenced by dreams? I already know that my moods are influenced by my interactions with others, particularly the opposite sex. Anyone else have their mood highly affected due to social life?
I'm on a waitlist to see a psychologist, but the list is about
a year long. I've been on the list since May.

When I have alot of anxiety inmy daily life, I tend to have those kinds of dreams and wake up with a sense of dread that almost makes me vomit... I don't think it is the other way around, although I have had dream "hangovers" with some really bad nights, can't seem to shake that feeling. But that is usually when I am dealing with financial crises or teenage daughter angst-lol.
They say we try to resolve our dilemmas in our dreams, so maybe your brain is trying to move on from this non-relationship??? That is a healthy thing...i hope you can remain friends with this guy. Sorry I can't be more help. I don't have a social life anymore so can't help you there-lol.
Take care
Maggie

Hi there,
I use to have that happen, but now I don't remember my dreams as well as I use to. I know I have very vivid dreams and I do dream in color. I use to have preminition dreams, but it scared me, and then it stopped. I am glad. I have a lot of dejavu experiences and I think that is from dreaming something and then it happens. I just don't remember the dreams that much anymore. Probably due to medications or something like that.
I hope that you can feel better today. Try not to let it effect you. But yea, you aren't the only one.
Hugs, Karen

I've been miserable all day. Even when I went out with a few friends. That might be because I wasn't with who I wanted to be with. And yeah, my brain tends to want things that my heart doesn't, and vice versa. I don't know what'll become of our non-relationship. One friend said I should talk with him about
it, but I have no idea how to do that. He's the only guy I've ever dated that still wants contact with me this soon after we stopped seeing each other. Actually...most guys I've dated tend to disappear after the break up. Maybe it's this fact that I'm holding on to him.

Amy....I like Karen do not remember many of my dreams, however I can remember having dreams that affected me all day it always involved someone that I loved they are either dead or in a horrific accident. As far as your non relationship I think it is weighing heavy on your brain and heart...you need some closure I think. Hope things work out for you soon.
Take care, Amy

Hi Amy,
When I had started having more serious depression, my dreams became very intense. Additionally, when I went on anti depressants the dreams started happening again. Within the past month my most serious boyfriend and I broke up unexpectedly. I have been really struggling with the situation, but interestingly enough, my intense dreams have started up again. My therapist echoed what people have posted on here: our dreams are our brains working things out. My recent dreams have also involved my ex seeing other people or somehow turning me away, which has been devastating to think about
. What has been good of all my dreams is that while I'm awake, I find myself getting to a better place. Those dreams are tough-I know that-but it's a really good thing because you and your subconscious are not in a place of denial, and are actively working through things.
Trust your gut. If you feel the need to talk to your ex, then you should do that. If you feel space may be more beneficial, then go that route. It sucks. I'm in the same boat right now. Let yourself experience your emotions. Cut yourself a break. Unfortunately time seems to be the only thing that helps. You're doing good though. One foot in front of the other.

Trying to get over people isn't easy. Particularly this one. I'm trying. It's hard :(. My brain is trying to tell me things that I don't want to listen to.
