I'm new to this chat but not to depression.  I have been sick since 1993 and last summer had a relapse and now I'm on 3 anti-depressants but I don't feel that I'm getting anywhere.  Just managing to get through the day.

I think this is a good place to be in your situation. I've found this forum useful, allows you to type everything you're going through. There are many people here who can relate to your situation and really do care and hope for the best for you.

It's important to know that you're not alone. My approach is to learn as much as I can about my condition and try to do everything I can to help myself. Whether those things work or not is sometimes unclear but just taking charge and doing things to myself seems to help. It gives me a sense of fighting back and not just giving in.

Sometimes we just have to believe that there's good times and better days ahead and keep the faith. Meanwhile take care and be kind to yourself.

We are always glad to have new folks but sorry you had to join us.

If you want, you can tell us a little abit about yourself. What kind of meds? Are yyou seeing anybody?

I am 59, live with hubby and teen daughter in Mississippi. Depression became severe in 2006 and have ridden the roller coaster of depression since. I am currently on Effexor and seroquel. Have been hospitalized 4 times, went thru 18 ects and popped alot of pills-lol. Still struggling but still grateful and laughing each day.

This is a wonderful group of folks with a lot of wisdom aand I hope you'll share your story.

i am taking a break from LOOONNNGG overdue housecleaning, so gotta run. Weekends can be slow here so don't get discouraged.

Talk to your doctor and let him/her know you think its time for a medicine
Change up...don't stop any of your meds on your own either or you could go
thru withdrawal. So best if you tell you doctor, there are many medicines out there and you can find one that will be right for you even if it takes a few trys. It's very good
your on meds but if your not in couseling that might also be of help so consider
seeking counseling. And if you are in counseling it might be time for a change in counselors so you can get better help. Keep us posted as we do truly care.

Hi there,

And welcome to the forum. You have been given some good advice. If the medications aren' working ofr you, please let your doctor know. they could do some adjusting and you will feel better. Do seek out counseling too. It really helps.

I hope that you feel better soon. Take a nice walk and see how you feel after and during that.

Thank you for the ones who responded to my post.  I'm sorry I've been so long in replying but I've had a bad relapse and can't express myself well not either.  I went to the hospital the night it happened and I was seen by a psychiatric nurse and psychiatrist and will be treated as an out-patient.  I really wanted them to find a place for me to go to get away from "life".  There were no places available.  So my husband is to treat me as if I'm in the hospital at home. 

I'm really not feeling well but will be seeing a psychiatrist on Tuesday afternoon.

Hi Carol,

I am glad that you are seeing the psychiatrist on Tuesday afternoon. I see one, there is nothing wrong with it. I am sorry that you couldn't get inpatient though like you wanted to. Hopefully the psychiatrist will help you to feel betterr. Do you take any medications for your depression? Were you seeing a family doctor or any counselors?

I know that life can be hard. Sometimes we do need a break for awhile. Maybe they will have an opening for you to stay a few days. Let us know how it goes. We are here for you until then... Keep posting and know that we care.

Yes, I am on three anti-depressents - 60 mg Prozac, 300 mg of WellbrutrinXP and 30 mg of Mirtazapine.  I have been seeing a Psychiatrist for years but this one is for emergencies on Tuesday.  I also see a counsellor when I need to talk but that's not on a regular basis.

My life is stressful at home.  My husband is very abrasive, demanding and controlling.  That's one reason why I want to get out of here for a while.

I am so sorry that your husband is demanding and controlling. I was married to a contolling guy for a long time. I think when you get away from it you are going to see ir for what it is. Making your own decisions and stuff. I hope that your appointment goes well, and that you can get a hospital stay that you want. Keep posting. I have a frightened dog. Somebody is shooting firecrackers and she is scared. So I have to take care of that.

Keep us posted on how you are doing. Know that we all care about you.
