How long for Zoloft to get out of your system?

I have been a long time antidepressant user. I've probably been on ten different meds over the past 12 years. The latest drug was Zoloft and just like the rest, it made me gain weight! I've gained 90 lbs since starting antidepressants. I tapered off Zoloft and have been off for about 3 weeks now. When will the drug be completely out of my system? I was taking 100mg per day. Please help!

Hi Sadintx,

It is hard to say how long the medication would be in your system. It takes about six to eight weeks to completely get in your system. I would imagine about a month to leave. I think that would best be answered by your doctor. Do they know you went off of the medication? Did they help you?

I hope that you do well without antidepressants. If you have to go back on, ask about wellbutrin. It doesn't cause the weight gain.

Karen- Yes the Dr knows that I've tapered off the Zoloft. And my psychiatrist put me on 300mg of Wellbutrin. I wanted off the Zoloft and he added Wellbutrin to supplement. He also wanted me to try Viibryd but I looked up the side effects and weight wain was one of them so I won't be trying that.

Liveinlaugh- I was on Zoloft for years and never had a skin reaction. Sorry, I hope that gets better for you.

That is cool you are trying welbutrin. I hope that it works for you. I tried it once and I liked the way that I could think clear. It was very good for my brain. I just needed a high dose and couldn't tolerate it. I hope that it works for you.
