Though your name sounds familiar, I am not sure if I have welcomed you to the forum. But none the less, welcome...

I, like you, have tried many different antidepressants, and have had a lot of side effects. I am now on pristiq, but was able to take effexor for 15 years with success.

Did you have a traumatic event that has caused you ptsd? I dealt with that about 20 years ago. I had a very good therapist that helped me to get through it. It is behind me now. But it is hard going through it. My mother had schitzophrenia and was bipolar. That was a hard mix. She was mean though so that sucked at that time for me. I got through that too.

Keep posting, as it does help. I hope that you feel well and that you find the right medications for you. I know it is hard, but keep moving forward.

As for more details about my situation, I was involved in an emotionally and verbally abusive relationship from summer 2004 until winter of 2010. When I decided to leave incidents of harassement began and eventually physical abuse in July 2011 occured. Through Police services I found a psychotherapist who I see once a month since October 2011. I know if I dedicate myself to the work with the therapist I will heal in time. Yet I am self-destructive and give into my negative emotions. I feel I am addicted to living in negativity it is my comfort zone from all the years I was not allowed to be my own person. Making my own decisions scares me and I have been having very irrational thoughts of attending court to see my abuser. The guilt overwhelms me and I cry not for myself but for him and what I did to him. I know my thoughts are not rational. I appreciate being able to write my thoughts on here, thank you.
