I would like to put it out there for all those that are feeling like they are a "hermit" or a social outcast.

Maybe you feel like you want to stay in bed today, like myself, however I have to force myself to cook and go to my mother in laws.

Reminding everyone that we are all special and are here for a reason, even if we do not see it now. Try to be thankful for the roof over your head and day you woke up to. It is not always easy, but we build our strength by doing it every day.

I wish everyone peace and gratitude for something today, even if it for the box of tissues to wipe away the tears that are helping you heal.

Stay safe and strong everyone, I will be checking the site later this evening if anyone needs to vent I will respond.

Great thread and great message Trina. It becomes hard sometimes to look at the good things in our lives. Especially when we are depressed. But if we really look at the big picture, there is always somebody having it harder than we are. Let's count our blessings today. I am going to start with this site... I care about each and everyone of you!!!

Trina & Karen, many thanks for caring. Depression is never easy but its especially hard on a holiday especially Thanksgiving. Holidays bring out emotional pain. So many spend this holiday isolated and deeply depressed. I'm having a difficult day but tomorrow will be better. I felt this way last Thanksgiving and survived and I'll survive today. There's no magic bullet that will cure this illness so we must do whatever it takes to survive and get through each day. Yes, we must look at the whole picture and focus on those who are far worst off. So many with this illness living in institutions, shelters and the street. They have nothing but somehow they have the will to live. Again, thanks for caring. Your support is so much appreciated.

Thanks for posting. I hope you find some peace today. I know that the holidays are so difficult. Know that I will be off and on the forum, and Trina will be here later. We so care about all of you!!!

Karen, I like you 'quote' where you said no matter what you're going through, somebody out there is having a harder time than us. A friend told me that last year and I always remind myself of this when I'm having a touch time.

I always try to take that into consideration. Makes my own problems look a little smaller. As they say, it isn't the problem, but how we face it. That isn't always an easy thing to do. One small step at a time I guess. But this does help.

So glad everyone is ploughing through this Holiday like it was soft bottom ground.

I myself am still on PRN medication, with my phone off after a few unwanted texts. Strong is as strong does...

Now that Thanksgiving is over ; we will now be bombarded with the Norman Rockwell invasions of Christmas and all that crap. I would like to remind everyone of the reality. MOST families are dysfunctional at some level, always were. The WALTONS's although based on a true family is a Novel/drama.

Perfect families do not exsist. We are who we are now, yes we can change, most likely can not change our families.

Be proud of who YOU are; what you can do. What your strengths and compassions are. Live life in the present moment, do not worry about tomorrow, it has not arrived yet. Today is enough of an adventure to handle.

The holidays are so hard. I am very anxious and excited at the same time. I am going to the casino tonight with some friends. I hardly ever get out. Wish me luck you guys. I want to enjoy myself. It is a celebration for my and my girlfiends birthdays. Mine was Thursday and hers is today. I figure the casino is going to be busy being it is Saturday and a holiday weekend. I just hope I can handle the noise. Usually it fades into the background. I usually play quarter slots, but last time I played penny slots and won. I didn't win tons, but it was enough. I remember that the machine had wolves on it. I am not use to socializing, but went for breakfast with my girlfriends this morning. It was fun.

I guess with the holidays it can be excitement or dread. I use to dread them because it is so expensive. And I never had any money. I don't have a lot now, but I have enough. I have grandkids that I buy for. I still have yet to shop. I was going to do that today, but now I am going elsewhere.

I hope that you all have a good day. JB1, do take it one day at a time. That is all that we can really do. IT is hard. But each Christmas is a new experience. They never are the same in my opinion. At least with what I have experienced. It is too comercialized, I know. That alone makes it hard to enjoy. But with each person, I think that it is our own experience and we can make it what we want in our hearts. To me it is all about peace, and love. That is the true meaning of Christmas. Be it friends, or family, or just ourselves. Enjoy...
