For now I am coming to the forum pretty happy. Got a lot of studying done today and that always helps elevate mood. However, I am sure that within the next couple of minutes, I will be down again.
I didn't realize what was going on until someone on here pointed it out. It is very obvious that the mood swings caused by hypothyroidism have gotten pretty intense. It's almost like I am fighting depression, anxiety, bi-polar, and the hypo. In which, I am to a degree.
For instance, last night I started thinking about
Christmas and everything that comes along with it. It just made me so sad and upset because at the moment I felt like it was going to be terrible to have to celebrate it feeling so crappy. But, no kidding, less than three minutes later I was actually excited about
the opportunity to get to see family and celebrate the season. It was then that my boyfriend, said, "Yes, you are acting pretty strange here lately."
So, for the person who pointed this out to me, thanks. I can now monitor it and see how the medicine is helping/hurting.
Bye now.
From "right now happy" and "later not" poster
(P.S.- I am going to let this topic, "Hypo and Depression", be the topic that I post under from now on. It is going to be my "complaining" spot on the depression forum about
how I am feeling and things that I just need to let out.)

Hi MA10,
It sucks when our moods change. Have you thought about
a mood stabilizer? I take one and it really helps. It also makes my antidepressant work better. So there are two good things about
them... I would talk to the doctor about
your moods changing so much.
Try not to be pessimistic about
the future. Don't assume that your mood is always going to go sour. That doesn't always happen. Sometimes we are in a good mood for awhile. Look forward to that, not to a bad mood. Because if you continue to do that, it will be bad. You are projecrting the future.
Keep hoping for good moods. Think positive. I really hope that you are enjoying the holidays. They can be special and memorable.
Keep focussing on the good...
Hugs to you,
Karen...

Glad you are feeling well and are good awareness. The awareness is also known as mindfulness if you want of research it while you are feeling good. It can help the good moments last longer.

I don't know,
Looks like you have two accounts. Try to use the newer one so that we don't get confused. I hope that you feel better MA10.

I feel really really terrible today. Hypo is whooping my tail. I have had a headache ALL day, I am dizzy, can't concentrate, really tired, my joints hurt, I think my hamstring tendinitis is back, and oh yea, I still have two finals left.
I am hurting, mad, sad, and quite frankly can't seem to get a grip because of all of it. What is it going to take to feel better again? ALL I want for Christmas is a normal life, not plagued by depression, anxiety, physical and emotional pain, or any other "new" ailment. So as I sit here and cry, I am trying to remember all of the coping skills I have learned from the past.
I've gone too far to look back now.

Hang in there MA10,
Things will get better. The weather has been causing me a ton of pain, so I can feel you. I just try to plug along one day at a time. I have had to keep myself from worrying about
the future today. Just trying to stay in the now. I hope you feel better soon.

when you feel this bad, go to the freezer and get ice cubes, hold them until they hurt, then hold them some more. This will change your mind set with in a few minutes. Bring the anxiety and high stressors down.
We may have given you these websites before, please be patient with us if we did. I urge you to visit them and see what you can learn or relearn from them. We all need a gentle nudge once and a while.

Oh there's nothing like having to fight depression, anxiety, and tonsilitis. Or having to dodge between them. It's easy to let depression win because you're stuck inside all day. My thyroid and tonsils are swollen, leading me to not be able to get enough breath. Which, in return, heightens my anxiety levels. I am prone to pneumonia because of my weakened immune system. Last time I had this junk that's exactly what happened. Staying positive that it won't happen this time. But this also plays into the heightened anxiety levels. eeek.
But hey, on the bright side of things---I MADE IT THROUGH ANOTHER SEMESTER OF COLLEGE! Done. The Christmas holidays start right now. Though, I am starting them sick, at least they're finally here.
:)

Yes, Karen. I won't have to work my job because the kids are out of school and I won't have to go to school myself. So looking for some time to rest and recover. It's been a long, hard one.
So thankful that I could make it through a whole year of college and fight depression (and everything else). This proves that there is HOPE for everyone. haha. It can be done.

The best way to avoid this is to work with a psychiatrist who can provide help for both the
depressive
and the manic
symptoms of bipolar
moods.

Soooo....many....emotions.....
Anxiety is up. Depression is up. Very angry and irritable. No motivation. I've had a good 2 and 1/2 days since I posted last, but I know better than to think that's going to last. I know exactly what triggered it, but I don't exactly know why or how it did. And I don't exactly know why or how to make it stop affecting me. It was all over stupid stuff that was totally out of my control in the first place. Err, I just want to scream.
Okay...I am good now. Just wanted to get that out there. Out of mind, off of chest, out of sight. :p

I am glad that posting helps you. It takes practice, but you will master it. And even then we get caught off guard once in awhile.
Take care, keep trying...

I went to the doctor today. More blood drawn to test my levels. Another ultrasound to check thyroid swelling. All of this in combination with a pretty emotional experience with my friend's break up is causing me to be pretty low tonight. I had a crying spell like I haven't had in a while. My boyfriend and I are having trouble, and it was caused by me. Don't necessarily know if it was coming anyways, but my depression probably hasn't helped. We both agreed to pray bout it, go to sleep, and then talk it out tomorrow when I hopefully feel better. Life sucks right now. What more can I say? I don't know what else to do. I keep hanging by a thread. What if that thread breaks one day? Surely there's more to life than living like this.

My life just feels so empty today. I have been surrounded with family, food, and friends. I am so blessed, but cursed at the same time. It's not exactly how I would have wished to feel on this great Christmas Day, but I don't guess we get to choose.
One little thing set off my depression early this morning, and just crushed me for the rest of the day. I have been extremely emotional and crying at the littlest things. I don't get the enjoyment and fulfillment from all of the holiday garb like I used to. Now things just seem so pointless and out of place most of the time. The things that I grasp to for comfort are fleeting and it is hard to find stability even within my own emotions.
My only hopes are that tomorrow I will feel better. That's all that's left anymore. I always get so excited for the holiday season to come and it's almost not worth the hype anymore for me. I am more sad to see it go than I am excited to watch it come. Oh my bipolar-like mind. haha. Maybe one day it will all get straightened out.

I think we all feel that way. We build it up so much in our minds, and it is gone in a minute. So I think this is a normal thing to feel. Especially when we are depressed. Try to live in the moment. And take it one day at a time. We have New Years Eve now... Look forward to that.
I hope your day gets better. Know you aren't alone.

I am in a lot of pain. I am not sure if I have a strained neck muscle, or if there's something else going on due to the hypothyroidism. I have been having random other pains as well, all along the left side. Keeping NSAID's in my system as well as some ice/heat therapy. It also doesn't help that the hamstring tendinitis isn't healing like I had wanted it to.
It is pretty hard to stay up when you're in pain. I know that you guys know that as well. I hope it's just a strained neck. I really don't need anything else to come up.

Sounds a little like my fibromyalgia. I have a lot of pain in my neck and shoulders...
I hope that you feel better soon. Could be arthitis acting up. I find nsaids work good for that pain.

Karen,
I had heard that a lot of patients who have been diagnosed hypo end up having fibro as well. It's kinda of scary. I hope that it's not.
