There are cruel people in this world. One of these cruel people befriended themselves with my girlfriend when she was very young, and told her "Everyone is out to get you. Everyone wants to*****," for 3 years of her middle school life.
Since then, her favorite color went from pink to black; her wrists went scared, she started having daymares; she could't sleep in her own room anymore; she's been put on antidepressants, and she wears a charm bracelet as protection (charms her mom and friends have given her).
If you met her on the street, or in a store today, you would think you met the happiest person in the world. That is who she is on the outside, everyday.
As her boyfriend I want to help her to beat what's scaring her. If I could give her my confidence I would. The one time I tried asking her to sleep in her own room though, she almost had an anxiety attack and clung to her charm necklace, begging me not to ask her to do that. She wants to let go; Of material items shes been given by that bad man, and of her charm bracelet. I've been thinking about
starting small and working my way up with her: Have her ****** a small items the guy gave to her, to eliminate memory anchors to her past, hopefully getting her to the point where she'll be able to sleep in her own bed again, and in the end, ultimately, to take this guy to court. Any advice, questions, help, would be greatly appreciated.
