Starting Pristiq:
Hi again, I have major depression and have for many years, also anxiety. I was recently changed from wellbutrin to pristiq 50 mg. I was to cut down very slowly on the wellbutrin. I have felt really bad on pristiq, very very sleepy
like falling asleep all during the day when i sit down, very tired so much that I was not functioning. I had no energy at all, and no motivation. I don't think i could have felt worse and never have starting a new medication. I had shoulder, elbow, arm and back pain before pristiq but it got worse. I researched pristiq before taking it and since and found that some people have these side effects and they go away and they say they feel better than they have felt in years, others say they couldn't stand the way it made them feel and got off it without giving it time. I can understand that but i was determined to give it a few months trial no matter what because i've been on everything you can think of without much success. I was almost untreatable. My problem is very much inherited and i think it's harder to treat in that case, or in my case, not everyones maybe. Don't want to make anyone lose hope because there is always hope, just seem like less in my case. I still have a whole lot of depression to deal with, like i said i'm hard to treat.
Sorry, I got off topic. I've been on pristiq 4 weeks now and the last 3 days i haven't been as sleepy and haven't fallen asleep during the day. I am still pretty tired and have taken a nap the last couple of days until today but i did lie down to rest. I am almost 64 years old so i guess i may need rest during the day. Anyway i'm not very sleepy,
anymore, but still have a little of the other, but i feel hope now that it's going to be alright once i get through what i call the side effects. Oh and the pain has gotten better also.
I still have it and i have an appointment to see a bone doctor for my shoulder. My doctor says he thinks its tendon, but will find out soon. I plan to check on fibromyalgia if things don't change a lot. It is good to hear people telling about
there good experiences and if you don't understand how you feel i think it's good to hear about
people who have the same problems and symptoms as you. This forum is helpful and will be more so once i fugure out where i'm supposed to go to post in the new post. Hopefully i have come to the right place this time. Please any comments about
pristiq or anyhting else would be appreciated. Joyce A.
