Daily Check In for all!!! #54...

Good morning all .........

   A warm but gloomy day in these parts. Gizzy ..... was a trooper this morning. No dogs spotted in the morning ride - and he was cool about it even though he kept looking and gave one or two little howls.

   It could be the Dexapro might be affecting my sleep ... the second morning in a row getting up around 3:30am ... then back to sleep by 5am for 2 hours or so. Gizzy was patient with it .... my goodness, is he losing some of his puppy impatience?

   It was a big sports day yesterday ... didn't take too long to get over the Bear loss. New coaches, defensive injuries and an offense that is starting to look like the Saints!

   There may not be many or any of you out there that are interested in basketball ... but Saturday night was something of a huge coming out party in this area for Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls. The first exhibition game of the season, his first game in 18-months after a horrific ACL injury in 2011 ... and the Bulls beat a very good Pacers team. Thumbs up so far!!!!

   Well, on this slightly dreary day, hope everyone finds something to be cheerful about. Since this is a new thread start, I'll list my signature on this post ... don't normally do it, but a few things recently changed.

So-so today.

Got up early and went to a Substitute teaching orientation session. We had heavy rain, so I wore nicer jeans, rain boots, a short -sleeved nice sweater, jewelry, make-up. Went to employment office after and dropped off my paperwork to work with an employment counselor. Got home, and boyfriend (who has now been furloughed for a week as a government worker), well, he had something to say about my clothing. I was far too casual, and he couldn't believe I was dressed in jeans, and he thought I was purposely trying to NOT get a job...

I walked away, he took five minutes and apologized. I understand he is stressed out, but he has a tendency to shoot off his mouth when he is frustrated, and he doesn't filter information going through his brain very well.

Anyway, now I am mad.

Carl, for your painting, we hired local college "boys" (2)to paint our house inside they moved the furniture and all. Did a darn good job.
My husband hitting 54 this year, is curmudgeoned trained.

My09 and JB I have learned to lower my expectations so when hubby does do something he had been talking about, it is a pleasant surprise! I learned early in my marriage that his willing mind did not always mean a willing body!

Morning all -

I got up early to put a pot roast in the slow cooker. House should smell real good when I get home from work.

You know I detest cooking, well last night I tried to cook fajitas. I bought ths same kind of meat I've used for years. It was tough that we couldn't eat it- not one piece was tender. Very disappointing. But I tried.

Hopefully the roast will turn out good!

Good morning all ........

   It looks like there are two new people to this thread today ... and a couple more over the past week or two. Besides a welcome ..... let me bring just a little sanity (or explanation) to my posts on this thread.

   I live alone but have a very good and dear 4-legged furry friend. His name is Gizmo. I try my best, to start each day (no matter how crappy yesterday was) on a positive note ... and try to find a little honest humor in life, as well as, anything positive to focus on. And so that's Gizzy'n me!!!

   Gizzy had his day today ... almost. No dogs spotted yesterday, but on today's ride he almost hit the jackpot. Before our daily ride, as I'm letting him out thru the garage door, out comes Toby ... the Border Collie across the street. He's never on a leash or lead - but always sooooooo well behaved!

   His owner seemed fine (nodding to me) that they could meet nose to nose. So I started walking across the cul-de-sac ... Gizzy was pulling like a hungry sled dog, and when we got tothe middle .... Toby just turned away and started to look for another place to pee. OMG ....... poor Gizzy ... rejected by a neighbor.

   Within seconds though, Toby did come over ... surprisingly with his tail between his legs ... and the two went nose-to-nose in the friendliest way. And just as quickly, Toby was off again to find a pee place. So ... off Gizzy and I went in the car to pick up some coffee and a muffin.

   A few blocks away ... we drove past the two big Great Pyranees. They were calm ... Gizzy went nuts with that high-pitched barking ... Oh No!!! Twenty minutes later on the way back home, we passed them again! Oh oh ..... this time the two owners did not wave at me! Hmmm!

   And finally, just before turning in on our street, we saw the Lab pup that's behind us being walked ..... tail wagging ..... Gizzy with his high-pitched bark again. What in the world has happened to his howl? It was so cute, friendly and not loud! Is Gizzy reacting to being rejected? Why does the Dog Whisperer have to be on the West Coast?

    Now, he's so tired ...... he's laying down in front of the front door and ignores me when I call him. At least it's peaceful ..... for now!

    Bright and sunny ... but very brisk morning here. Hope everyone has a good day.

   Roaming .. getting dark early in Winter has always been a downer for me.

Karen, Jasimine lump is most likely a fat deposit, I have had dogs with lots of them, usually nothing to worry about. But do get it checked out to be sure.

Yummo, roast. Tonight, making an eggplant parmigiania in memory of Marcella Hazan.

Went to see new therapist this morning. A sliding scale that was still high, since BF makes too much money. But, it went well.

Got home and found I was approved for substitute teaching. So, rah! Now, sending my transcripts.

Then, I will head out to gym for a nice workout.

I don't know, I love coffee, but that doesn't sound good. civet cat... I have heard of it though.

Myself, I am really happy that you got the job substitute teaching. Yay!!!

   I think it's safe to say that we all handle depression just a little differently - and sometimes better than other times. I could really be depressed every day and let it out every day. I have a ton of things that can depress me ... if I allow it! Not the least of which is terminal cancer!

   I try hard, every day, to start the day with a positive viewpoint. For me, it's important ... maybe even helps my sanity! My little daily stories with my dog Gizzy help me grab and appreciate some of the smallest beautiful things in life ... while I still can.

   I do, from time to time vent, complain and get pissy about some things. I save those times for a post I do. Sometimes, I talk about good things, sometimes silly things, sometimes just vent like I did a couple of times today. but I usually write that post later in the day ... and not every day.

   So Patrick, it's not a cover-up or a disguise ... nothing fake! I'm really trying to feel good every morning.

   Hope this didn't sound crude. I just got off the Alzheimers forum and needed to write an anser to some irresponsible dumb s**t who wrote me telling me what I need to do for my Mother (who has dementia)! Sorry - I am in a pissy mood! Please don't take offense.
