Hi all! I am new here and just wanted to say 'hi' first. I'm a female in my early 30s and married to a loving husband going on four years with a household that has two cats. I consider myself a survivor of some pretty difficult issues from when I was younger which was when I began to pay attention to my inner-self and had my first experiences with counseling and antidepressants. For me personally, I hate taking meds - it makes me feel completely numb and worse off (I say it makes me feel as though I am a zombie). I never really had a support system to help with my times of depression that would hit and I learned through education and therapists ways to fight through. With my husband, he is very supportive and helpful during my tough times but that did not come easy - we both had to learn how to communicate during the difficult moments and I had to allow him to help and support me. Still though, I go through my dark moments where I feel depression creep in and try to battle to take me down - I fight back; sometimes I win quickly... other times it takes a longer internal fight and support of my spouse. Anyway, I found this site and joined basically to speak with others who understand and to not feel so alone when the dark clouds roll in. So again, hello to everyone; best to all of you!   Mrs2010

I'm new also. Most of what you wrote I could have written myself. I'm still not good at allowing my husband to support me. But we have learned to communicate a lot better over the last few years. Our kids moved out and we sort of had to learn how to relate again.
Anyway I just wanted to say I know what you mean about the dark clouds rolling in.

Communicate ..... communicate ..... communicate!

   I wish I had had that with my ex-spouse. A chance we would not have been ex's even by now! My daughters have that difficulty at times also.

   So ........ congrats to you Mrs. Robinson

         Sorry about that. I really liked that movie and Simon/Garfunkel!

   So ........ congrats to you Mrs.2010 .... and keep trying for Tjay and if needed - for catwamyb too.

tjay - it is great to hear you have a husband there for you; I have found taking on the difficult times together, as a team, can make things seem lighter to carry. Looking forward to speaking with you more!

UserANONYMOUS - hello there and thanks for the welcome! It definitely does help having a supportive spouse; before marrying him, I really did not have someone close to trust with this issue and find a little extra help. I hope to hear more from you!

Gizzy'n me - I definitely agree... communication can make it or break it. I have an ex-spouse that never got how important communication was. Thank you for the kind and warm welcome :-) I look forward to hearing from you more!

I hope that you are having a good day today. I agree with communication. My first husband didn't like to talk about things. It was difficult.

My husband now, is easy to talk to. We have many meaningful conversations. Sure does make life easier.

Hi Karen! Nice to hear from you today and I hope you have enjoyed your Wednesday. I definitely agree that when the communication is broken or lacking, things can be much more difficult than necessary. Thanks for the tip regarding the daily check - I will make sure to take a look :-)
