weekend check-in

i'm feeling gloomy today. it is cold and wet outside. i feel cooped up. i used to like winter weather when i was a kid.

i am having some adjustment problems with my denture. lately it has always been something. not really much pain, just emotionally dealing with this new change in my life. luckily i have found a message board for advice. even though they don't want to deal much with feelings (which is why i put them here).

i need warmer clothes for work but can't seem to get myself to the mall to buy some. i realized today that a lot of my resistance has to do with spending money. i just don't like to do it and i'm not making a very good salary.

my car is old and that is a stressor. at some point i will get a new one.

and above all i just feel bored. even if i felt like getting out in the cold weather (which i don't), i can't think of too many places to go.

What's up with the dentures? I just got my uppers in June. I am doing pretty well, but hubby had a hard time. What's the problem? Maybe I can help

I'm sorry that you are feeling this way, and really hope that you feel better soon :)

Just a little thing. I recently bought a cardigan, a very warm one, from a charity shop, if I had bought it as new, I would probably have paid a fair bit for it, though I used some money actually which I had from a birthday present, it cost about £4.50.

It's a little big for me  :)

hi, now it is sunday and i've woken up depressed again.

thanks everyone for your replies, they really helped me.

one thing is that my favorite chat room has closed. there is another room that some of the guys go to, but it is not the same. i feel like i don't know most of the people there, so it is hard to chat.

the thing about the denture is just getting used to it. once i have them in i tend to forget about them. except when eating. i am still working out what i can and cannot eat. what i don't like is all the maintenance, getting them in, in the morning and taking them out at night and cleaning them. i guess i would be brushing if i still had my teeth, and the uppers were nothing but one problem after another. also, someone told me to think about people in very poor countries, they do not have the choice of having dentures, they just have to deal with no teeth if their teeth go bad.

i wish i had something to look forward to. i seem to have lost interest in everything.

Cheer up Display!!! Things are going to get better. It sounds like you have a case of the blahs... With this weather, it doesn't help. Getting use to new dentures is tough sometimes. But make sure if they don't fit right that you keep going back in so that they are comfortable to you. Sometimes it takes awhile, but it sure is worth the wait.

It sounds like you are having trouble just getting use to the fact that you lost your real teeth and have to wear dentures. It isn't the end of the world. They are not that bad. You can do most of the stuff that you did before except eat carmels. And gum. I use freedent. It is chewable. You learn to adapt.

Do you think that the shorter days may be making it harder for you? Maybe you need a light box or some vitamin D3. Both really help in the winter. I don't know where you are but it is really cold here today and cloudy. But when it gets bad, I just draw the blinds so I don't have to see it.

I hope that you feel better soon. It doesn't take long to get to know people in chat. I would recommend going back and seeing what is up with everybody. It can be fun. I am no good at chat, too slow...
