HEEEEY!

Man, ya just have to laugh at this wacky universe sometimes. Okay, so hub goes downstairs to check on Sally, who insisted on staying out last night (loaded with blankies)...no Sal, we search and find her blankie at the edge of the woods. Okay, she went off to die. We cried. I went down to the water and read 23rd Psalm and the Corinthians "Love is kind" passage for her. She was already up there in the Infinite.

My step-D , hub and granddaughter came to take us to lunch. they went down to leave and there is Sally!!!LOL...so she is up in the lazyboy with Mama feeding her ground round. This sweet dog does not know when to take her bow-ya gotta love the skin and bones baby.

Crafts fair was great, Michele, lots of vendors, all original products (no junk or resale) lots of foot traffic. i did sell several and many said they are coming back next Sat w/ money. We are doing 2 next weekend. Some fairs want $300 for the booth-how many small locals can sell enuf to cover that and make a profit? Ridiculous...so we are sticking with a $50 limit on that.  I am stopping on the side of the road and cutting all sorts of "ugly weeds" that are so beautiful when dried. It has made the way I look at the roadsides change. I have never done anything artistic (besides piano) so it is fun. I am socializing. But I was worn out today-need to build some stamina.

Hi Everyone.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

UA, I had a dog 15yrs hold that hung on seemingly forever, they never cease to amaze!

John and I worked on the house and cleaned the attic out and finally have it listed for sale, Wew! Still a lot to do with it, have furniture to have removed and cleaning to do, however we are moving ahead.

Today I went to a scrabble party and it was a nice respite from working on that house!

Now a movie and cuddles with hubby and the dogs.

Fairly sure I have strep, so I canceled my job for today. Heading to the Doc in a Box later. Decided it was worth the money, because strep will just hang around if not treated.

Good morning all ..........

   It's warmer today .... well - not as cold ...... but it is a dark and dreary 26 degrees. Not one dog spotted today on our drive. I saw one, but Giz didn't! Why oh why did he have to wake me up at 4:30am????

   I have a catscan this morning along with a chest xray ..... should be a glowing day today!!!! My chemo SE's have slowed a little so far today.

   Hey ........ Thanksgiving is only 3-days away!!!

   Myself ..... expected it with the Bears ... did not expect D. Rose to blow out his other knee in Portland though.

   Trina ...... good luck on the market. It may sound crazy, but in August when my Mothers house was sold, the purchaser took the furniture too and gave a full list price for the house in return. Good Luck to you!!!

    UA ...... tomorrow, my primary will tell me "how my pneumonia is". It feels much better, but still some congestion in the chest. Thanks UA - and thanks Michele!

   Mags ...... my dear old Bear can wait for the squirrel chase!

Not any warmer here Karen. Out at the vet with Gooser this am for his monthly shot.

Rob, that would be a blessing if someone took the house as is with the furniture! If only... Good luck on your tests.

Well no sun here! It's 40 degrees with rain. It's one of those stay in your pjs day. Except I have 2 errands to run -pooh.

Myself- strep? That's not good. Seeing the doc in a box is well worth the money. And then do exactly what he/she says.

Rob- I'm glad you are feeling better and hope you get a good bill of health tomorrow.

Sitting here trying to decide what yo cook for dinner tonight. Soup was yesterday so that's out. Hope something comes to mind soon.

It is strep.

I lucked out-new doc in box opened, first visit free. Picked up antibiotics. So, the escapade lost me a day's work and 15 bucks for the med.

This is clearly the problem with substitute teaching, and a weak immune system. I have been hand washing and using hand gel, but it snuck in.

Got a movie.

Yay for the free visit!! Wonderful news that you got to save money- horrible news about it being strep. Please bundle up, drink lots of fluids, and take your medicine while watching your movie!

Sorry you are sick! Strep really stinks. Schools are a hotbed for germs, that's for sure.

I'm still depressed so I'm going to try and make it to the dr about it. I guess the celexa isn't helping as I'd hoped. Lots of stress over financial issues right now. Hope everyone else is doing well.

Hi All...

My day of work is over and I'm home on the couch in my flannel pj's (like everyone else I have been reading about.)  My bronchitis is getting better but geez, it certainly did knock me on my butt!  ..Right now my 14 year old daughter is emptying the dishwasher and cooking supper (no, I am not dreaming and yes I am in the right household) so I am enjoying this and relaxing.  I also had my appt. with my therapist before I came home.  She gave me a lot to think about so I guess this is all good. 

 

ok, myself...what is a doctor in a box? Is this a good thing?  I had to see my doctor last week and I don't have insurance so between the meds and the appt. bill I now owe about $250.00.  A $15.00 payment makes me quite envious. ..I do hope you feel better soon.  I used to do the substitute teaching through Kelly Services and now I still work with kids.  I love it, but I do have a poor immune system!

 

Rob: I hope you are doing okay with the pneumonia.  Did you get the results of your check up today?

 

Maggie: I've been thinking of your family and your dog.  I hope you are all doing okay.

 

Karen: Glad you had some fun at the casino!

 

Hmm.... what are you all doing for Thanksgiving?  It will be a fairly quiet and lonely day for me.  Will anyone be around the site that day?

Hi JB... You always post such nice posts, wishing well for everybody and not complaining about anything. I hope that you aren't over looking yourself...

AV, I hope that you get to the doctor soon. No sense in putting that off. It is so important to feel well.

Rob, I hope you enjoy the holiday with your daughter and her boyfriend. Foot ball, beer and cigars??? Is that what it is for desert??? LOL...

Michele, HB, Trina and Magpie, I hope you all have had a good day... Take care all... I hope I didn't miss anybody, I am kind of tired. I think that the casino took a lot out of me, other than money... LOL...

Thanks, kids. Watched a so-so movie, drank a lot of water, and trying to pack my December with work.

CAssie-Doc-in-the-Box, an urgent care place. I don't have insurance, and moved in May, so haven't IDed a doc in my new location yet. I have been seeing a therapist and a psych, and paying for them, but nothing else except meds. -sigh- Need to pick up my crohns meds before the holiday, and they are 450ish for two weeks worth, which I eke out for a month. Hope your dinner is good and you feel better soon!

JB- there are days we need to tunnel in. I do hope your new meds start helping soon. Got that cold up there! We have it here and it's invigorating!

AV-make and appointment and keep it. This is an order, not an option. Yes, I know money is tight for you, but your health is paramount, Mom. Smiles, babe.

Karen-pork for dinner. Not sure what I am doing with it yet... but it's waiting for me.

Mags-update on pup?

Feeling some better here. Realizing a big part of my issue is loneliness.

I'll be here Thanksgiving. My kids are going to celebrate with their dad. So hubby and I are headed to Galveston for a fabulous buffet- we found it last year. It was incredible and all you can eat! As I've told y'all before, I don't cook. Although tonight I'm trying a new recipe and making banana pudding from scratch. Just call me Betty Crocker!

Good Morning Everyone,

Got through my first day back to work yesterday. I did get frustrated and cry my eyes out last night. I wished I could quit my job but it's not an option now. One of the bosses stopped by and bough me lunch. It was very thoughtful and nice.

Trina: I agree. Dogs are indeed amazing. Although I don't have any because my parent never wanted me to have one I have a soft spot for them. My neighbor once had a nice dog that I used to go across and place with.

Myself: Glad you're taking it easy. Hope you'll feel better soon.

Rob: Hope the appointment goes well today. Please keep us updated.

Boracay: Welcome! Hope to learn more about you.

Cass: It's nice the kids are helping out. Hope you feel better.

Welcome BAck to work, UA. It's always hard the first day back. I agree, animals are amazing. We are gooing to adopt, once we get a house of our own.

Good morning all .....

   Another dark'n dreary one today ..... no sun in sight and 31 degrees. Sure looks like snow - but just had 1/2" overnight.

   It was another one of those "Driving Miss Gizzy" days this morning. No dogs out today. BUT ...... now comes a habit to break with Gizmo! At this time of the year, whenever I let him out, all he wants to do is lick the snow!

   There's dog tracks all over the driveway ..... no pee stains ..... just dog tracks and lick marks! Yep .... he loves the snow. It's like his big water bowl out there!!!!!

   Karen ...... no traditional Thanksgiving here - haven't had one of those in a long time. But Amber, Drew and I will go over to where we went last year for Thanksgiving. It's a little "yuppy-ish" but the food was very good with an imaginative limited menu. Nothing quite like doing a 2-hour plus dinner with great people.

   UA ..... got two appointments today - one with the primary doc to find out the results of yesterdays chest xray ... and then later to meet with the social worker from hospice along with my Mother.

   Myself ...... sorry about the strep!!! By the way - my daughter wanted so bad to get a job near DC after college ... she did an internship at American University and that was her dream about 7-years ago with a major in journalism and a minor in poly sci.

   Michele ...... lucky you ..... you get two nice days out in a row!!!!

   Cass ...... I have to wait intil next Monday for the results of my catscan - but i should find out the chest xray results today. The pneumonia seems mostly under control - but not yet gone.

   JB1 ....... you might have me confused with Carl. I'm here in the Chicago area. Since my daughter stopped eating all meat except seafood and fish, it'll be interesting to see what she orders. I've heard where we're going has great tenderloin medallions, but she'll probably have trout or grouper???!!!!

   Boracay ...... welcome to the group ... hope you're getting some sun!

   AV ........ hope you made the appointment for the doctor.

Even with some sickness going around, there seems to be a little holiday spirit out there ........... cool!!!!!

I love thanksgiving-it's my favorite meal to cook. We are doing a reduced version this year. None of my favorite soup-costs too much with the pounds of wild mushrooms. Instead, doing a butternut squash curry soup. No stuffing (sad) but I will splurge with mashed sweets. Two kinds of cranberries. Sauerkraut salad-grew up near some PA Dutch and sauerkraut has become a staple of winter festivities. Plus it's great with Turkey. Greens and salad. Grain and sugar free pumpkin pie! We need the full turkey, despite the fact there is two of us, cause I want to make soup to freeze.

Family isn't coming this year-bro says Mom cannot manage the steps, but also politely demurred when I offered to bring food out to share. Dunno. We all will get together when brother in law (my dead sister's hubby) comes to visit. Family is a mess right now, worse than usual.

My classes today sound like a TB ward. Proctored two tests-and heard sniffles, coughs, and hacks. I was better until after lunch-now feel kind of feverish and blah. Aches starting up.

I want a dog or cat to snuggle with. We are sad-we have several stuffed animals who have very distinct personalities. But they aren't as much fun to cuddle as a flesh-n-blood animal. But they do steal all the beer.

I made a drs appointment. They can't fit me in until dec 9. I know I need to go back because I can feel myself slipping deeper into the depression. I'm now feeling like I just want to spend thanksgiving on my own. My ex decided he wants the kids until Sunday. He gets Thursday until 2 and then I get the rest of the night.

Myself, sounds like a lovely meal, my family and ancestory is PA Dutch.

I miss the food, not the family so much. Hubby and I are having chinese food with his Mom on Thursday. Friday I will make a roast chicken with all the trimmmings for him and I.

JB, AV try to get out and do one thing with a friend this weekend. I spent a couple hours with 2 friends on Sunday playing scrabble of alll things. However it was fun and enjoyable just to be together.

We need to learn to nurture the relationship of people that do not judge us for who or what we are, instead they encourage us to be just that! US.
