Shock from new dentures with depression anxiety

Hi, welcome to the boards. I have had to have a bunch of my teeth removed (no enamel and throwing up all nine months of both pregnancies). I have a partial and it fits well.

In some ways its a relief because my teeth don't look like a meth addicts. I can smile without feeling horribly self conscious. It does feel like I have failed at something at times. When I feel that way, I go smile in a mirror! They may not be my natural teeth, but they look soooo much better! Cherish the smile and forget the baggage. :)

Im sorry that you are having a hard time adjusting. I am in the process of getting all my teeth pulled to get false ones. Karen is right the no more teeth pain is a big plus for anyone who has it and A/V has the smiling part.

I hate smiling because the teeth I do have are nasty. Im 28 and can't wait to show off my fake ones.

Like anything else new you have to get used to them. It wont take long I'm sure.

   Believe it or not ..... by far ..... the worst part is over!!!!

   It is very common for dentures to need adjustments when first made. It is relatively common that they may need minor adjustments every few years or less often - due to the shrinkage of the remaining gums.

   BUT .......... all those terrible toothaches of the past are gone. If you've ever had a partial and the resulting building up of teeth tohold thepartial inplace ..... no more drilling, grinding, pounding, pulling or contact cement ever again!@!!!!

   Doesn't that sound cool?

   In the meantime, it takes a little time to get used to them - and don't hesitate to go back for one or more adjustments. No pain there - just some time spent.
