It truly isn't your fault. And the only thing you can really do to support him, is talk him into going to a doctor, or psychiatrist. And counseling. These are two steps that can get him on the road to healing.
Be supportive, but if he wants to be alone, that is normal. Try not to push, just suggest things.
I hope that he feels better soon.
Know that none of this is your fault. He owns his depression and it is up to him to get better...
