Yes, Bnot takes it too and I believe she has had good results.
I have never tried it but have had success with other antidepressants. I understand it is suppose to help with pain too.
I sure do hope that it works for you. Have you seen any improvement at all?
Hugs, Karen...

Not too much improvement - my anxiety is a little better, but my depression is the worst it has ever been on any drug. I really don't know what I am going to do as I am into my 8th week starting today. Some days are not terrible, but today I have the shivers and I feel like my head is full of air. I have heard good things about
it, but then I have also heard it is the drug from hell - guess which one I am leaning towards. lol

What doseage are you on Sandi? . I started at 60mg for pain, then 8mos later went to 120mg 2 x day for the depression/pain.
Works well, took about
six weeks to notice a perked diff. I have some really horrid past issues to deal with so, know the docs have added Lamictal 25mg to the mix. This has brought me out of the pot hole.
I do hope you feel better soon on the C. It works best on a Good diet and staying well hydrated.
Peace
Trina

Thank you everyone - I am still trudging along, however today we had to put our beautiful cat Pepper down as he has arthritus in his back legs, diabetes and blocked urinary tract - I was sad before but today I couldn''t cry anymore. Our first cat was 20 years old when we put him down with cancer, but somehow this was so much harder - guess I am getting too old for this kind of sorrow. He was such a good kitty. So we will see if this sets me back.

Can you get another kitty? Often that helps with losing one. I know how it is. I am a dog person and have had to have many put down. I find that when that happens, I get so depressed. So now I try to get another pet to take that away. If you can, it really helps... Some new life to love...
I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Karen - Actually we had two little brothers so besides me missing Pepper, his little brother Tigger is walking around looking for him so it is going to be hard all the way around. If my darn meds would kick in at some rate of usefulness, it wouldn't be so hard. It is so frustrating - couldn't have happened at a worse time. Isn't that the way. Hugs - Sandi

Hi Sandi,
I had one dog for 14 years. She outlived three of my other dogs. I get big dogs (german shepherds) and they don't live as long. But this dog was Australian cattledog and something else, so she was smaller. Her name was Chance.
Before Chance died, I got a german shepherd puppy named Jasmine. I knew at the end what I had to do. It was very difficult. But I was so worried about
Jasmine missing her. Well, she didn't. She acted like nothing happened and now she gets all of the attention. So that made it a tad easier.
I guess you have to look at it this way. You gave Pepper a good life. Probably better than most cats. If you love them as much as I love dogs, I am sure Pepper was a pampered kitty. Jasmine is too spoiled. I wont even go into it, as there is a lot.
Love your other kitties. Keep fond memories of Pepper. You will feel better, it just takes a little time. Know that it is the right thing to do. Pepper will not suffer.
I hope you are having a good day, I know it is hard at this point. Know we are thinking of you.
Hugs, Karen...

Hello Wayupnorth, I have seen your post a while ago.
Since my experience on that drug did not do anything good for me, I did not dare reply to you.
But, now after 2 months on it, you should have seen a difference. So here I am to tell you, that yes it works for many and no, it worsens symptoms on others. I am in this category, I was on it for 5 months, the first 3 months, it did nothing, then on the fourth month, everything worsened an worsened. Mind you, I was only on 30mg, went on to 60 for a few weeks. Did not help in the least.
I have been weening off this for the last 36 DAYS, no pik-nik here.
Cymbalta is not meant for eveyone as you can see, trial and error.
How I would have loved to give you positive Wayupnorth, sorry, it was the worst for me. God, how I hate to burst a bubble, I pray for you to find what is right for you.

Hi Carl, thanks for asking. Went from 30 to 15mg for one month, that was tolerable. Then from 15 to 0, 39 days ago. We
open the capsules and count the beads.
Yes, it is unbearable at times, well often. And today, I'm having a glimpse of hope. I dont intend to go on anything else, I'm giving myself 3 months, then I will see. There is a great forum on cymbalta withdrawal, they help me a lot. Like the people here helped me.
If you visit La Belle Province, I hope you set foot on the Gaspé coast and of course in the Eastern Townships.

You can buy capsules so you don't waste any of it by throwing it away...
I wish you the very best...

I am into my 9th week and still suffering with depression. I am beginning to think it doesn't work for anybody as I certainly haven't heard any rave reviews. So you mean now I have to look forward to coming off this crap. I will have to see what my doctor has up his sleeve for me - he had talked about
adding a booster med - don't know what kind tho. Pretty much fed up - it was three years last Christmas Eve that my zoloft quit and I have been on this medi-go-round ever since. I will probably die of old age before they find something since I am 71 years old. There's a thought for you.

Try not to lose hope. The booster the doc is talking about
is probably a mood stabilizer, they help antidepressants work better.
Best wishes to feeling better...

I took Cymbalta 60mg for 6 years. Started in 2008 to get me out of an anxiety/depression funk. For me it worked beautifully. I noticed some possibly mild poopout recently and switched to Zoloft this past January. I had many friends rave abt Zoloft so I didn't hesitate trying it. That was not a good switch at all. I'm back on Cymbalta now for the past 7 weeks and they recently upped the dose to 90mg. I'm hopeful the 90mg works bc I personally really like the drug.
I'd say to call your Dr today and tell them it's not working. Don't hold back bc you feel you're at fault for it not working. If you switch to another med, there shouldn't be withdrawal symptoms. If not wanting to be on anything then you do have to titrate off of it, just like all antidepressants, under the plan of your doctor (in that case, I've heard pairing Prozac while titrating is very successful for many. The Prozac can then be stopped w/no titration. It's the only AD I know of that you can just stop).
I know it's frustrating. I'm in a similar wait and see myself, if the 90mg is going to help my breakthrough stuff. Pls call your doc so you can try something else. There IS something that will work. Best wishes to you!!

Thank you Lesweet1971 - I see my pdoc and med councellor tomorrow - don't know how to spell counsillor.
Zoloft was the best for me but it stopped working - Don't know what they will try me on now. I have never experienced this kind of depression before - just since I have been on Cymbalta.

I've find out the hard way, like you have, that the wrong med can cause issues like you're experiencing. I too had just taken a med and it worked. No problems. My pdoc and my sister (who is a family physician), said this happens all the time. But it's not permanent. It's not a personal flaw or your inability to cope etc. It's the med. And what's good for one may not be for another. This is temporary. Hang in there!
