lexapro and weight gain

Hi

I've been on lexapro a year for post traumatic stress and have gained 19 pounds which is depressing me so ive started tapering off the drug i should be drug free in another month. Has anyonw who has gained weight on this drug lost the weight after stopping taking it? Ive been slim a long time and this weight gain is soul destroying i have zero self control with food i believe its a side effect it affects your eating off switch. If i had known i would never have taken it. id live to know how long its going to take me to shift it. Some people struggle even after coming off the meds.

Hi,

I was on Lexapro a while ago and could not stop eating sweets, Dr said it was not a side effect!! yes it is!!

It didn't work for me anyway so came off it and am now on Wellbutrin, I lost the weight from the Lexapro though quiet easily once I was off it.

Totally agree that the weight gain is awful in every way and affects your life, eat healthily and exercise and hopefully you'll have no problem, feel better soon!
