Rob- mustang? Did you say MUSTANG? Yuck, phewy, barf. Ok I think I'm better now. Lol! Every time I see a mustang, I feel pukey. Sl glad I have moved on. Can't wait to hear about the trial.

AV- is the ac fixed? How are the kiddos?

Hi everyone!

Well I've been up since 3:30. And so it begins- I was training at the junior high the last two days and my head woke up spinning with lists of things I need to get done.

Made my grocery list- waiting on the store to open so I can get it over with this morning and then come home and take a nap! Lol!!

I hope everyone has a great day!

Our ac is still not fixed. I'd love some more rain do it would cool off. Back pain has kept me up all night. It's going to be a long day.

WaLa: Carry somethings to keep you occupied during the trip so you wouldn't be scared. Books, magazine, newspapers to read, snacks to get, good music, etc. Have a good visit with your daughter.

AV: It's a rainy day here today. I'll send some for you. Hope you get some pain relief.

Karen: yep, you're an early bird. I usually wake up at 4:30 for work. If I didn't have to go to work, I would sleep in.

Michele; I hope you get through with your errands. Enjoy your nap afterwards.

Jamie: A Ford Cortina will be an antique car here and it would be pricey too.

Rob: National Geographic does have interesting stuff but some things are scary.
Glad you support group meeting went well. It sounded exciting too with you and your motorbike gear. Hope Gizmo's app goes well.

JB: Hope you will feel better. Hope you get your finances sorted out as well.

Hello again ......

   Things are moving kind of fast right now.

   I have an appointment with the Director of Cancer at the University of Chicago next week. I called my Oncologists office this morning and got  return call 30-minutes ago. They have already faxed my 70-page file to the University of Chicago - yesterday.

   My blood test came in. Good readings on white & red counts, platelettes, hemaglobin and my creatine level too. However, my PSA reading ... that's the marker that's used for my type of cancer ... is not good at all. It's at it's highest level ever and it's climbing rapidly.

   And so the Oncologists office is moving fast to get my records to the U.of C. I will need to call or go to my hospital to have them make disc copies of my past catscans and bonescans - so they can either be fed-xed or hand-carried in by me next week.

   So my needed kidney stent replacement is going to have to wait. It was due last month - but there are new priorities now.

   I am so spoiled!!!!!! My Oncologist and all of my previous chemo had been given at their location - 2-miles from me! It was so cool! Never having to worry about traffic - or that I'll be home in 10-minutes (with heavy traffic).

   The University of Chicago is about 35 to 40+ miles one way - depending on the route taken. My meeting is at 8am next week - will probably have to leave the house by 6:00 to 6:30am - likely closer to 6am! Yuk!!! If it was during rush hour, it could be a 3-hour drive each way!

   Hey JB - got that martini? Michele - can we start the party early? Karen - sharpen your heels!!!!!

Do you qualify for medical transportation help? Would a taxi be more cost efficient? Would staying local be more cost efficient? Is there a group that could help with transportation? When my sis was in Houston, there was a group they worked with through the hospital that helped family and patients with transportation and housing near treatment sites.

Rob- mustang was in honor of his car and we were married on February 29. Out with the old!!

Ya know, we could have a pre party celebration- sorta like a test run!

AV- I'm sorry about the air. It rained here this morning while I was in the grocery store and when I left, the humidity was a 1000%! It was miserable. I nearly died bringing in groceries!!

Hi Jamie, JB, Trina, char and everyone else! I'd love to see our new members pop in and say hi!

Well, big grocery store trip over. Laundry almost done. Floors mopped and now my lung hurts again!! Ugh! I just took my last anti inflammatory this morning. Think I will stay down the rest of this day.

Oh I wanted to share. Yesterday I met with my 7th grade math team. There are 4 of us. OMG! It was like I never ever left!! Everyone's personalities are the same, their roles are the same, their craziness is the same! It was a lot of fun. Our goal was to get the first nine week lessons planned. We didn't even plan day one! Lol! We really do work so well together. But, right when we would settle on a lesson, one of us would pop up with an idea or concern. So we'd scrap that and do something else. Then another one would bring something else up. It was just comical!! Needless to say, we will be meeting again lol! I had a blast though. I'm even more excited to be back!

   So Michele, you were a leap year marriage? Darn it - don't have a joke for that! My former wife missed being a leap year baby by one day! I do have a joke for that - but never mind!!!!

   But ....... I can say that my Mustang was something of a disaster too! With mine, the engine died as I was trying to pass a truck on a narrow highway - with an 18-wheeler bearing down on me. I hit the brakes - and the stupid power brakes didn't work because the engine had died (and I almost did too)! Those were the years - before they used a vacuum assist with vacuum storage on cars - so that the brakes would work if the engine died!

   Myself ...... here again I've gotten spoiled. I would actually like to see the campus. It's located in an old section of Chicago that was upwardly mobile - called Hyde Park. One of Frank Lloyd Wrights most famous houses is about a half mile away from U of C.

   At my support meeting yesterday, I mentioned that I might consider a cab!!@!! Oh it would be so expensive! And the suggestion yesterday was to make an appointment for 7am to 8am at the latest - then drive a certain route - and because of the time, most of the rush hour traffic would be missed. I will do that next week because it's an 8am appointment.

   I downloaded a PDF from U. of C. - and found it even costs to park there - $6.00 for 3-hours on up to $20.00 for 24-hours and those are discounted prices thru the medical center. I would guess that the treatments would be every three weeks - and basically last the whole day with travel time. It serves no purpose to stay there!

   Karen ...... it is the location of the clinical trial I was talking about. When checking their website, they seem to have close to 20-different clinical trials for metastisized prostate cancer - and I believe that's the largest number of trials like that in the midwest. Next week, I'll find out which of the listed trials from their website is the one that the doctor is planning.

Notes:

   I got ahold of my mentor today .... bad situation. He's been in the hospital for over a month now - and it sounds very bad. I don't think he'll be coming out!

Notes II:

   Anybody want a dog???? I was on the phone three times around noon to 2:00pm. Gizmo was in an exceptionally wicked mood today! While I'm on the phone - he:

1) Took a coffee container off the Kitchen counter - brought it on the LR carpet.

2) The coffee container was 1/4 full until he brought it into the LR!

3) He stold my favorite Ace comb off the coffee table and snapped the teeth out.

4) He stold a brand new pack of 8-AA batteries off the counter - and opened them.

5) He took the just-emptyed soup container and paraded around me on the phone.

6) He found an almost empty ginger ale can - brought it into the LR to empty it.

7) I sounded like a sailor in between telephone calls.

8) And now he's sleeping??????

   Didn't someone say pay-back is a b***h? In 25-minutes, he has a vet appointment!!!!!!

How are you today?

JB... You have nothing to be embarrassed about. It takes time to work problems out. Some longer than others. Some we have to put on the back burner for awhile. Don't be embarrassed, just be honest with your therapist. I am sure that they will help you through.


Glad you are getting your credit card paid off. That always feels good.

Michele, AV and Rob... I hope you all are having a good evening. Jamie, you should be up by now.

I'm not fond of fords in particular (fix or repair daily) but an 80s model mustang saved my life. I was in a super bad crash, a girl ran a stop sign going fifty and smashed into my side of the car. The steel frame was all that protected me. I did get some horrific bruises and whiplash. My current vehicle is a chevy blazer. My sister had it before me and she warped the frame so the driver door doesn't close real snugly.

It's been a long day. I'm just now getting back on my antidepressants. I had to go off of them for the 2 weeks before my allergy test. My emotions are up and down. The kids were kind of whiney and loud. We did start a new reward system. They have to perform certain duties to earn points which can be used to purchase computer time, swim time, and just about any other thing they like to do. Within 20 minutes of implementation they had swept, swiffered, dusted, loaded the dish washer, put laundry away, cleaned the toilet, and put all their toys away. We shall see how it goes.

Ac has been repaired! Thank goodness because I don't think Bernie could have taken much more. He's been miserable with the heat. He's a black American long hair. He had spent the last few days sprawled out on the tile. He was playing a little ago so he approves. Night all.

To be honest, one evening this week, I found the tennis to be good escapism from my day, I posted that elsewhere too!

Hello to all!

Been so busy and just go go go this past week or so that it feels like months since I have been on. I hope that everyone is doing good.

My son started baseball for the Jr. Giants and so we have been doing practice 2x a week. I did have to contact the SF Giants to have somethings put in order and that was Tuesday or Wed, not sure which.

Had a good Thursday.

Then today was a crap shoot from the start. Oh my gosh I woke up and was still very tired, not sure why, then had to go to the little store that we have been going to for 25 + yrs, and the new manager was very rude and I was already upset and tired. I came home and was very rude to my mother and she got me sat down and asked what the deal was. Well this guy was very rude "calling me out" on their mistake and told me that I was in the wrong and embarresed because so many people were around at the time. I was in tears when I came home. My mom promptly went to the store and the person was no longer there... She was still very upset. When Dad got home he was very angry, I did go down to the store and talk to the young man in charger and he was beside himself, I told him that I was taking our business else where, he called the guy over and yelled at him in front of the whole store and said that my family and I are VIP and we are to be treated as such. No not a good day. Very tired and my allergies are acting stupid.
