I like the quote Lisa.
Hawk, if this psychiatrist isn't helping, find another. Don't quit your old one though until you have seen a new one, you don't want to be left without one. Call one, explain your situation to the receptionist, they will know if the new one can help you.
I didn't realize that you teach. I agree with Lisa, I think it will take your mind off of things. Sometimes we think too much about our conditions. It isn't good.
I hope you feel better soon. And you too Lisa...
Depression is the pits, but at least we have each other...

I've been on Zoloft for like a week now. But I didn't take it since Friday evening. I took my Seroquil. I take that daily. I've been on that for 4 months in various dosages.
The week after I stopped Lexapro, I felt better. I feel a bit better today since not taking he Zoloft. I wonder if it's the Antidepressants vs the mood stabilizers.
I've heard bit polar 2 people can react badly to antidepressants and make it worse.
I hope the school year will make things better. I have very low confidence right now and also low energy. Not a good combination.
I'm very confused. I asked my insurance hospital for a switch of psychiatrist. They said they would get back to me Monday. Will see what happens. They aren't the best about returning calls and they have lots of patients.
I hope I can find a path out of this darkness

Maybe you are feeling better after stopping the anti depressants because the start up side effects go away.
Trust me, I was tempted to stop when I was having the increased anxiety/panic in the first two weeks, but this third week has been better. I don't know if the side effects are subsiding or if the Ativan I started last Monday to help me sleep is helping, but I seem to think the side effects are subsiding.
I'm nowhere near where I need to be, but I feel like my moods are stabilizing, even if they are on the low portion of good (5 or 6 at most).

That could be the case or my p doc could be right and I am bi polar 2. He said that sometimes bi polar 2 patients have adverse reactions to antidepressants. That I should be taking lamictal or lithium. I am on one mood stabilizer, seroquil, but that didn't help solve the depression the month I took it alone. Then my doctor started adding antidepressants.
I could try to get the strength to fight the added depression for 2-4 weeks with a trial of Zoloft, or just cut out the antidepressants and stick with the seroquil mood stabilizer and hope I can fight the depression with working out and talk therapy.

Hawk- have you ever had an episode of mania? You said you score low on bipolar 2 tests. Did you Pdoc test you for it through a series of questions?
Btw, what do you teach and how long have you been teaching?

He said that though I've never noticed mania, that bi polar 2 could be hypomania, that's not as noticeable. He says that my adverse responses to medication makes him believe that I could e developing it.
I teach middle school social studies and this will be my ninth year. But last year was my hardest or one of my hardest years of my career. Going back to work might be contributing to my anxiety and depression. But it's been bad all summer. It's been bad for over 4 months.
