Daily Check In Thread For All!!!! #100...

Just popping in. I'm home. I have a huge appreciation for my shampoo, soap, pillows, and couch. Such wonderful things! Job interview in the morning! Got a full outfit for it at Goodwill for 9 dollars. Took my babies for ice cream. I'm going to enjoy my nook, bed, and blankets immensely for the rest of the night.

Good morning .......

   The definition of miserably muggy = Chicago the morning of 8/21/2014! Eeeks ..... no need for a shower today - just go outside. Of course, it's NOT raining - but it sure is wet!

   Tried a large mocha this morning from DD! Pretty good - and half the price of Starbucks! Just one dog spotted this morning but Gizzy still enjoyed the ride. It should be up to about 90 today .... and many roads in this area flooded from last nights rain. Yuk!!!

   AV ..... so glad to see that things are a little better. Hospital pillows suck. And good luck on the job interview.

   UA ...... did you have to change your tire - and put the spare on? Good thing it wasn't a blow out. Those can be a little scary when they happen.

   Myself 09 ..... continued good luck on your search - hope your frustration level is OK - good thing you still keep doing some fun things!

Notes:

   I actually missed (forgot) my catscan last Friday ... so back to the hospital in about an hour to try again. My NP wants me to call her late this afternoon for some results and for my current PSA reading.

Need to get out to Mom's here soon. There are a ton of roma tomatoes ripe, so plan to make a sauce today. I need to remember to take an onion and some herbs out. I can't find the place they keep the onions, if there are any. AND, the dried herbs out there are 20 years old.

Saw my therapist today, and she noted that I seemed fairly good. More relaxed and less anxious. It's true-finally breaking down and applying for unemployment was a good move. With luck, I can at least pay some of my bills!

Tired and achy, but at least it is friday.

Some days are like that, kiddo.

I have been amusing myself with panda photos and captions. -sigh- Some days are just, well, just... cute animal photos day.

Myself- I'm so glad you applied. There is something to say for a little stress relief in the money area. I'm so glad your mood is lighter. I know it's been a bit tough lately. Keep uP the great work.

UA- yes, how did the tire situation work out? How's work? Are people still being mean? I'll kick their butts if they are being mean to you.

Rob- weather talk, hmmmm. They say humidity is good for the skin. Enjoy! Lol :). Did you hear back from the NP? How's Gizzy lookin?? Poor naked baby!

Karen- I'm sorry it is hot. At least it's not cold!! Yet!!!

I've been having some pretty intense health issues lately. Finally got into the doctor today and we are trying a few new meds. Not depression related at all. So fingers crossed.

I brought home two bags of work for the weekend but I will get it all done.

Myself, I can feel your disappointment and "I can't believe I did that." Please know that we've all been there--and among us, there is no shame or blame. You are a go-getter and will come roaring back.

Rob and Gizzy—Rob, what a heck of a time you’ve been through!!!!! Not sure if I’ve missed any of the darned “paper approval” for your surgery, but I sure hope that got worked out. Otherwise . . . SHEETOLA!!!!!

And Gizzy . . .I think you’re handsome no matter what your dad says. ;) Plus, he BETTER take you to the Samoyed event this month or else threaten him with something he would really dislike. . . .

Karen, How’s pickin’? Besides being a bit too hot? I hope you’re having more good days than down ones. But when those down ones come along, ride them out and tomorrow will be another day. :)

As for me, Willie came for an almost 500 mile visit this past weekend—pretty spur of the moment, which set me in gear of clean, clean, clean since she’s allergic to kitties (AND the house needed to be cleaned!)—and all the other odds and ends that go with having my one and only come to visit, although it doesn’t matter to her. Oh wello . . . moms. . . . She brought Ginger’s “pony,” Ellie (Golden retriever)—and they picked up like they’d seen each other yesterday.

We had a fantastic visit—stayed up till 2 am (VERY late for me), drinking wine and eating cheese, yummy bread, fresh fruit, etc. and having girl talk. Saturday morning, we gathered our hiking gear and headed out. She was lenient on me—we went up in the mountains—plenty of rocks and steep drops down to the rushing 30 feet wide creek, but also wider paths for the pooches to race. I knew that I was going to pay for it(physically), but it was fantastic. Did a bit over six miles, hit the local brewery, a bit of boutique shopping, home, got ready for the evening and my husband took us to a nice dinner. She and Ellie left the next day, but what a wonderful weekend it was.

   Another muggy one today .... and rain coming .... again. My least favorite expressway in this area was flooded again yesterday .... so thankful i don't have to use it.

   A large mocho coffee with cream from DD this morning if really pretty good .... plenty of sweetness from the chocolate .... and only $2.39 with tax!

   Gizzy didn't pay much attention this morning on our ride, but with my help - did see three dogs.

   jan1952 ........ my what energy - and sounded like a great week-end. And ...... Gizmo does not pee in my car!

   Michele ......... humidity is not good for the COPD! Gizzy looks OK - just mighty skinny and un-Samoyed-like! I did get a call from my NP ... and frankly, the news couldn't have been worse ....... later!

   Myself 09 ........ did get my scan ...... wish I hadn't!

Notes:

   I seem to be running out of survival options. My catscan yesterday showed more cancerous growth in my adrenal glands. The liver, ribcage, lymph node and kidney blockage has not yet gotten worse though ... BUT ... my Oncologist has run the course of all of the normal chemos (5) and thinks I should go for a second opinion to someone more specialized.

   I've asked him if i could go back to chemo #4. It worked for 6-months and could or might give me some QofL until sometime in 2015. He thinks I need a second opinion on that too!

   I am purely planted in limbo right now!

Michele, many emotions for you today. I hope you feel relaxed and mindful. Wishing you the best.

Rob, about my energy, other than having a neurology appt and voting on Tuesday, I was wiped out after Willie left!!! But, I knew that would happen...and it was worth it.

And, dear Rob, although you must be quite tired, please find the strength for those second opinions. My heart aches for you.
Wish Gizmo was a service pooch who could do all kinds of things, including drive you to appointments ;) ... although I know he provides the best "service" of all...love.

AV, I bet most of us have run into more than one rough patch in our lives...and I had one after 40. Heck, I'm probably not done with them yet, and I'll be a spry 62 in September. ;) ha

Wonderful of you to take your kids for an outing--even when you're feeling lousy.

Michele--I'm not sure what the scoop is with your daughter--maybe school, trial period, but whatever it is, she knows you love her dearly. Even at the worst of times, you both know of each other's love.

And you sound like you're handling your bff's move better now. Hard to say--we can seem upbeat, yet falling apart inside...at times.

Karen, do I detect some down in the dumps coming from you? You're always upbeat, but seem to have been dropping little bitty "mentions" lately of not doing/feeling so great.

Good afternoon .....

   Heavy rainstorms this afternoon - Gizzy was my extra buddy today - he is so frightened of the lightning and thunder!

   I've been having an extra diversion for over a week now - and so glad it was on ... The World Series of Little League! A team from Chicago won the Great lakes tournament (first time in 30-years) and were orhave been involved in the World Series.

   There is a girl (13-years old) by the name of Mo'ne from the Pennsylvannia team that was evenon the front page of Sports Illustrated this past week.

   The Nevada team - superior in hitters and probably pitchers beat Illinois (Chicago) the first time 13-2! (Chicago's only loss) But they played again today for the U.S. Championship - a fantastic game - and Chicago unexpectedly won 7-5. Illinois (Chicago) was the best fielding team and probably the fastest team ..... excellent game.

   They meet South Korea tomorrow for the World championship. i don't see how they have a chance with nearly all of their pitchers not qualified to play tomorrow. And Nevada plays Japan in the consolation game.

   What excellent teams and great kids who have worked their bunns off!

   Especially since the Bears were so bad last night, it's been good to have something other than re-runs to watch.

   jan1952 ........ no left turn - left turn - left turn for me! If you've ever heard of Chicago Speedway (in Joliet, ILL) - yes, it's a Nascar track. I had the chance to run my Subaru on that track with a pro driver in the passenger seat - giving tips - each of the last two years. But, my stinkin health kept me home both times.

   I have, long ago, been on Road America (Elkart Lake), Blackhawk Farms Regional track and Rockford Speedway. Only Rockford Speedway was a left- left - left!!!! Miss those days!!!

   AV ......... yep, my daughter will be here in about 10-days - and in Chicago in about 7-days! Right now, I need at least a several day break from doctors .... really am sick of em!

Notes:

   I am going to write my daughters and cousin an e-mail tomorrow - going over my tale of whoa! I go into the ambulatory every Saturday for a complex dressing change. Upon going in today, the nurse asked me "how are you feeling". I said not so good - explained briefly. And she gave me a hug!

   I can't tell you how much that helped!
