Did I help?

I went to our local blood center to give blood today.  I found out that all of the blood that we give here stays here, so that isn't going to help victims of Katrina.

We gave change at the local mall.  It probably wasn't $3.00 all together, but it was all the change that we had.  I would like to have given more, but bills are heavy this week, so right this minute I'm not able to.

We took cans of food to a canned good drive at my husband's job, then I heard on TV that they don't need food, just money. 

I really want to help these people, but I feel pretty much useless at this point.  The media has turned it all political, and into a racial thing, and I'm thinking, "Stop putting a spin on it and report the facts."  We're all intelligent enough to have our own thoughts and opinions on the facts.  It would be nice if we could get them.  I don't care about anyone's opinion, I just want to see these people get the help that they so desperately need.

So, now I'm feeling down, because I feel useless, and wish that I could do more.  So I am going to pray for each and every person there.  Please, pray with me.

The mantra I repeat over and over is that I can't take care of anyone else until I take care of myself. I don't think any of the victims in Louisiana would want you to go hungry or fall in to debt to save them. You gift of blood may not directly benefit the Louisiana but it will help someone help and that's a precious gift - no matter who it goes to. Its the same with the food.

I have read that people with depression see the negative rather than the positives. See the positives in what you did today. You've helped many people today and perhaps those people will now help someone in Louisiana. It's all relative.

I know what you mean about the red cross wanting money. I am not able to give cash, but we have tons of nice clothes to give. Men's , womens, and childrens. I don't know where to send them but I really want to help in the only way I can right now. If anyone hears where to send these type of things I'd really appreciate it. I'm sure someone is in need of clothing. Anyway, would love to have an address so I can help. Thanks... And good for you luvmdo, for helping in the ways that you can..
