I have found a counselor. But she does not prescribe meds. But trying to find a Psychiatrist is not going very well. I get names & numbers, & they aren't what I am looking for. Some are not even working phone numbers any more :(. Others do not prescribe Rx's. My anxiety is over the top now. No wonder the VA has trouble, when the private sector can't handle us (depressed, anxious, .......... ) either. Maybe my counselor I am seeing this afternoon will be able to help. Making call after call & getting no where, is not helping my mental state at all.

I am sure your counselor can help you. I am so happy you are going. I hope your session goes well. I go to both psychiatrist and psychologist.

The counselor will be able to send you in the right direction. Also, primary care physicians can also prescribe.

My primary went thru 3 meds. & gave up. Preferring a Psychiatrist deal w/ it. I got to my appt. today, & was told it had been cancelled = they were sorry they didn't get a hold of me before. Had been there a 1/2 hr. before they told me it was cancelled. Trying again tomorrow, w/ a promise they will help me land a Psychiatrist.

Have you checked on line for a list of docs under your insurance plan, website should be on the back of you insurance card.

Have gone thru Tricare's list. It is very short. & the clinic my primary Dr. works for has no openings, & none of the people they recommended to me dispense meds. :(. So my therapist, that I finally saw today, will get a list together for me :). But I found out today that this clinic doesn't have a "couple's" counselor. Which was 1 of the reason I picked them. So hopefully by my next appt. (next week) she will have lined up both (Psychiatrist for me, & couple's counselor for us). But things are looking up, for me (still not for my marriage tho :(.....). STILL 1 day @ a time! :).
