Cilly, not sure why you want to switch doctors, I looked but didn't see your reason, maybe I missed it.
I did "try" a different Psychiatrist a few years ago, while I was seeing my present Psychiatrist, in another forum I was in, they told me it was okay to do, so I went and it was like a 3rd world Psychiatric office, the entire time I was talking to the Psych doctor, another doctor would come in and question what medication to give the patient he was seeing, this new doctor put me on trazadone?, busbar, let me stay on .5 mgs of xanax a day and my zoloft. I was like Heck no, I am not taking all this crap after I got them filled.
Went to my other Psychiatrist already had an appointment scheduled, and he was real cool at first but then was looking at his Ipad and said "who is Dr so and so", and I told him, well needless to say he totally flipped out saying I could have a seratonin seizure or whatever they are called and said that would be our last visit, that he could not be responsible for something happening to me.
After crying and begging him to please give me another chance, I didn't know I couldn't "try" another doctor, he gave me another chance.
Long story short, before you change doctors unless it is something out of your control, make sure that is what you really want to do, you could get a worse one, or you could get a better one. I was just glad that I stayed with the one I have.
