Okay...here we go!
Put on some comfortable shoes and leash your fir baby, Karen. My Dals are too rambunctious to take along our walk, so they'll stay behind. It's so warm, they're "swimming" in their cattle trough anyway.
We'll head down toward the baseball field, where the rye grass is so green, it hurts your eyes in the sunshine. They've just painted the dugouts and bleachers with a fresh coat of paint. I love the smell of paint in the morning, or any other time, for that matter. It's an indication that progress is being made as projects are completed.
Spring training is gearing up, so we can hear the ping of the bats as we approach the track. The sound of CCR is blasting through the intercom system. I LOVE that these guys even know CCR's music. They're grilling burgers for the guys on a charcoal grill. Maybe they'll let us have one if we ask nicely;) I'll have mine fully dressed with EVERYTHING. (Pardon my onion breath).
Hey, let's go sit in the warm sunshine on the bleachers and eat our burger. It's still a little cool in the shade, but we'll be fine for our impromptu picnic. Can I feed your puppy some chips? Will she sit for them? That's the only command my dogs obey...sit for a treat. I think we may get some color on our faces...maybe should have worn our visors, huh?
C'mon, let's stroll around the track a few times and walk off that yummy burger.
I wanna show you some sweet little early risers...Crocus, Daffodils, and what I call "Surprise Lillies". The bright purples, hues of yellow and red are intoxicating, aren't they? We'll pick some for a bouquet on the way back, ok? I shouldn't have finished that whole burger and walked so soon afterwards. We'll be fine, though, as we slow to a stroll. I'm happy we dressed in layers. I'm going to hang my jacket on the gate when we walk by.
Oh, there's Ms. Betty with Muggles, her fir baby! She's 87, with both knees full replacement last year. I can only aspire to her level of good health. She walks here everyday. We'll have to sit and talk flowers with her for a while...what a treat! SO MUCH of my garden is owed to her. She has given me transplants of EVERYTHING in her yard...SO much so, that my husband refuses to DIG any more holes for me=) There's Ms. June and Ms. Sarah...You've got to meet them. They love to bake like you do!
I worked up a healthy sweat on the track. Let's head toward the shade now to cool off. We'll join the ladies for some sweet tea on ice. The shade and the front porch swing are calling our names. What a glorious time we've had! Oops...I almost forgot...We still need to pick a few blooms for the mason jar bouquet. I'm sure your pup is ready for the water bowl, too. Let's do this again sometime=)
Hugs~~Dixie
I hope this helps, Karen. Actually, our pond if frozen, as is the cattle trough. The wind chill is in the high teens. But, hey, the SUN is actually SHINING...and we don't have the flu. Most days it's not about having what we want...It's wanting what we have.
Full Disclosure: The scene portrayed above can actually HAPPEN, in about 8 more weeks...long after the ground hog appears=)
