Could I receive disability after a doc diagnoses me?

My mother was brutally murder in 2006 when I was just 16.I'm now 24 And been dealing with depression since then. I never went to talk to anyone about because I didn't want to be judged. Due to my depression and anexity I haven't been able to keep a job.Could I receive disability after a doc digonoses me?

I gave your thread a title. You would have to talk to a doc or somebody who knows more about this. In my opinion... There are things you can get through to change the way you feel. You need to consider all aspects. You wont be judged. That is no excuse not to talk to somebody. See a therapist... It can really help. And grief counseling can help too... sorry about your mom...

i too an very sorry. grief counselling does help. keep talking with your doctor about all available options.

So sorry for you situation. You have received very good advice.

Usually you need to go through some counseling and see a doctor for a while be disability is decided on.

There is a very good chance you can learn to deal with this stress and shock, start holding a job again. Your life does not have to be affected forever, over the tragedy.

If your in the USA, then you might want to check for a grief support group, these groups can help and they should not judge you. I also agree with the others in you need to seek out counseling as soon as possible a good counselor can help.
You've been through a lot and need to seek out help in your area, people do understand.
Seek out counseling, you have my well wishes and sympathies about your Mother...

It's not a judgement, you know. Compassionately, to say that it is one is more of an avoidance of the painful necessity of talking to someone else about it.

Just ignoring something is never effective. The underlying emotions don't go away just because we ignore them.

A therapist is an objective person who can help you sort through the muck, and identify better ways to manage emotions/choices/feelings. They do not pass judgment.

Are you taking any medications? I would *assume* no,but you might be. Medications have come a very long way in the past decade. Many people need the help they provide,even if only for a period of time while they struggle with a new perspective on matters. It's kinda like aesthetic distance, the necessary pulling back in order to see the whole. Up close, you only see bits and pieces.

You have a tough road, but you can do it, and you are worth it.

I've wondered for myself about receiving disability for my Depression/anxiety/agoraphobia. I have a case worker and she highly suggested that I apply, especially being I have been seeing a Psychiatrist for 2 1/2 years, and haven't worked in over 7 years other than a brief time for 4 months and I had to quit because my Anxiety was out of control.

In my situation because I haven't worked for SO long, I would not receive disability, but I could qualify for SSI, but it is such a hassle(in my opinion) gong through the process. I was denied one time years ago, the State made me see a Psychiatrist that was supposed to be impartial, but her findings was I was too articulate and could work. In my opinion I don't care how articulate you maybe talking to someone, that doesn't mean you can function normally in a job situation.

I am still debating whether or not it is worth the long process, just to be denied again.

I'm sorry about your situation. That's horrible. :(

As for disability, you could try applying. IMO it's probably not going to be an easy or quick process, and from my experience they will grill you for every detail to find ways not to give it to you. I have Crohns disease, anxiety/depression, almost died a couple years ago and have been struggling ever since, and they still will not give me disability. The best my case worker would do is give me an aide, which I can't afford because I don't work. I'm pretty bitter about the system as a whole after that. But your situation is different, and I don't see the harm in going to talk to someone about it.

I suffer from depression due to the loss of a child and I was able to get disability
