Welcome, Alan.
Most side effects will lessen or go away after about
a week. Your brain and body are just wigging out with the new med on board. Most of the time, it calms down after a little time. A good test of a medication is 4-6 weeks, to really know how your body manages.
You really don't want to miss out a potentially useful drug just because you didn't give it a good try.
If the side effect is still there and bothersome after that time, tell the doctor. Or, if it is really a bad side effect and you can't manage, talk to them in a few weeks.
When I started Wellbutrin, I was wired. I could feel my eyes moving, jittery, couldn't sleep, super-dry mouth. Then, all of a sudden, I stopped noticing the weird feelings, and just felt better. Conversely, cymbalta made me angry, angry, angry. I was glad when that trial period was over.
Everybody does respond differently. Give it a good try.
