How to cope when you're bestfriend leaves you for a guy

I'm feeling really bad right now and kind of depressed. I have a best friend whom i do all things with. We hang out and also communicate almost everyday since then. I think i've grown so attached to her that i've gotten used to the fact that she's always there whenever, wherever.

Come one day, there's this new guy who came up to her and who started pursuing her. She's only known and has been talking to this guy for a week, but big changes have already happened and that's what makes me feel so bad and horrible everyday. She now doesnt have time for me to hang out and to talk and catch up. When i tell her i want to hang out she would tell me "we don't need to see each other often". But, before it's usually her who asks me to catch up after work.

I'm trying to understand and be happy for her but it's really hard. It's only been a week but i feel like she's forgotten about me already. The horrible part is that when it was me who has someone in my life before and she asked me not to go on a Relationship first, i chose her and prioritized her many times because i don't want to leave her alone, but come her time right now, it has only been a week but when i tell her to please not leave me alone first and that we'll find someone together so no one gets left behind, she tells me i'm selfish and i don't understand. I know she knows what i'm feeling but she just chooses to ignore it and don't mind it and it really hurts. Can anyone please help me.

Thank you for your response Karen. I appreciate your honest opinion. It is truly an eye opener. I feel bad and hurt and It's hard to accept the truth (what you just said), but I know it's true and that's really how things should be. I know soon enough i'll be used to this and i'll get over this eventually. But, the hard part is now where i still don't know what to do. I mean, should I lay low and try to give her some time and space for the moment? Because everytime I ask her to hang out she makes excuses and if she responds to my texts she responds like she doesnt want to talk and she's busy ( we live in the same neighborhood, that's why we always see each other every day and go home together (now she always finds excuses for us not to see each other)). Honestly, before she's also like the one who wants to talk always. Should i just stop communicating for the moment and wait for her to initiate conversation or express interest in wanting to hang out again? I have been used to us hanging out and communicating everyday that it feels unusual if we don't. I know i need to grow up already and accept things as it is. But, this will take a bit of time to get used to.

Anyway, it is always better to hear something honest and enlightening from someone who isn't bias and doesn't know you personally.

I agree with Myself09, and you don't have any blame to place on yourself at all, just hang back for now and see how this works out with her and just be a good friend and say:" I'm here if you need to chat" Kind of leave it at that for the moment .
If the depressions gets worse do seek out professional counseling help for better answers...

In my opinion she's being a bit of a hypocritical b**** if you ask me. I mean she should never have asked you to sacrifice a relationship for her, friends don't do that, and you shouldn't have said yes, but she can't call u selfish for asking the same thing.

Saying that you shouldnt try and hold her back in her relationship, it is easily possible to have time for a boyfriend and friends as well. If she isnt prepared to spend much time with you just because she now has a fella then she isnt worth your time in all honesty. Real friends don't do that.

Hello everyone! I really appreciate all of your responses. Well the update as of now is that everything is still going as it is. Day by day i can feel that she is slowly trying to forget me and sometimes ignore me which she never does before. But, i still always am
There whenever she needs me.

Things are kind of getting worse now, i have discovered and found out that the guy who is trying to pursue her has just broken up from a past relationship of maybe 2 years or more. Now i can see that the guy is only after my friend because he wants a distraction, wants to move on and is just using my best friend for rebound. I can also prove that because he is hiding his social media account from my friend and instead tell very obvious lies on why he doesn't want to add my friend on his social media account. Shows that he's hiding something. I would gladly accept my best friend's decision if the guy is worth it, but what makes things harder is that i can see the guy is not worth it, but she is choosing to just ignore the reality and the facts. When i give her advices and when i try to show her the truth, she gets irritated and angry at me, saying that i shouldn't meddle. But what the hell, i'm her best friend, aren't i supposed to tell her and open her eyes about everything no matter how hard and how harsh tye truth is? I'm just telling myself, atleast i tried and did my part to warn her. If she still won't listen to me, i guess i can do nothing and let her learn on her own.

I agree with Andy, if you cause them to break up, chances are she will resent that. To truly be a friend, let her learn and then be there for her. But this doesn't mean she wont meet somebody else in the future. And it may not be in your time frame. That is how life is. Work on becoming less dependent on her. Be you... You are a wonderful person.
