Turtle,
I know you don't know me, I'm a moderator over in Lupus - I read Chronic Pain, Depression, and Fibro pretty regularly so I feel like I know you.
Often when someone is hurt by something we say or do, it is more about them than it is about us. We are all adults here and have to protect ourselves and our delicate feelings. You've done your part by apologizing and by making sure your intentions are good. That is all you can do, and now it is up to you to forgive yourself - the other person can't do it. And since I do know you from your posts, I know you will be much harder on yourself than anyone else can be.
I hope things will calm down soon with your family and that you can let this go and find peace. Like you, sometimes I want to fix things that in reality are far beyond anything I have done or that I can fix. I know from your posts that you are a gentle and compassionate man, and that any frustration you've expressed should not be taken personally by anyone here -- we all have a right to express ALL our feelings here, and to be accepted as lovable human beings. None of us are perfect.
Best wishes.
