Pristiq

I used Effexor years ago and I know it takes time getting used to the doc just had me on Viibryd for about a month the insomnia and no improvement is switching to pristiq. I know it can take longer then amonth to kick in but usually notice a little energy improvement on meds etc.. Is pristiq hard to start? I know like effexor gave me anxiety in the beginning.

Thanks but was the Pristiq as effective just started day 4 now I noticing not as bad side effects was the Energy as good obvously I know it takes time just want my energy, concnetration, mood, digestion back to nomral etc.. The effexor years ago helped with all this but was willing to give the pristiq a chance obviously my sleep also. I had a bad depression 20 years ago they did ect hope the meds work this time.

Yes, patience. The highest pristiq goes is 150. That is what I am on, but I went up to 100 in the beginning for a long time before going to 150.

I didn't notice how fast it worked as I took Effexor and pristiq at the same time for a bit. One kicked in before I stopped the other.

I have been on it for a few years with no problem. Pristiq, like Effexor, has anti anxiety properties, so the anxiety should be minimal. I wish you the best.

Anyone gain weight off Pristig don't need that either. I also wondered is the weight gain cause the meds make you hungry or they do something to your system?

I was on 50 for a long time. Situations caused me to up the dose. Some doctors feel that 50 is the best dose for depression. Some feel nothing over 100 makes a difference. There are people on 300mg and some say nothing over 150 matters. So there are many different views on what works for pristiq. I would give it the full eight weeks. Your doctor probably figures that if 50 doesn't work, it wouldn't pay to go any higher. There are other medications if the pristiq doesn't work. It just kind of stinks while you are waiting to find out. Keep hanging in there, and keep posting. Pristiq is fairly new, but I believe that there are even newer ones.

I tried paxil, Zoloft, Wellbutrin, serzone, buspar and Prozac. Only Effexor and pristiq worked, oh and I tried remeron. Not that none of the meds worked actually, some did, but bad side effects.

I am glad you have a little lift. Some meds are more subtle than others in the way that they work. I am glad you are going to give it the full eight weeks.

Anyone have to add Wellbutrin to there pristiq I know I'm not being pateint but I think the effexor worked quiikcker and better then then Pristiq did who knows I like the less side effects from the pristiq though I'm only one week in I should not complain. But I dealt with Viibryd for a month bad side effects and this has been going on for a while now I just want to return back to normal energy, sleep, mood, feel well physically and mentally. When this was this bad 20 years ago I did ECT I am debating on doing that again. This is really getting to me.

I have tired everything ambien, tamapzen, melationin, phenbuit, zanax helps a little, ativan etc.. You named it I tried it. Like I said last time this happned this bad I had ect done fixed the whole thing. But now I have mechanical heart vavle and have to take blood thinners daily don't even know if I can have ect done.


Basically my question is will medication once patient enough right combos found dosages correct this as good as ECT? I really don't want to go the ECT route.

Last time I ran effexor a week later think my sleep was better not sure I have to give this few more weeks for sure I'm not being patient but I ran a good buisness I had intot he past year in the ground cause of this going to school and trying to function daily is become a challenge from hell. The weird thing is I know this is depression but I'm not super sad like I was few weeks ago it's the energy, focus, sleep phsycal toll getting to me.

Karen did the 50mg dose of pristiq compared to the 100mg make a big difference for you?

Also they gave me the vitamin deplin to help with things prescription etc.

Maybe the effexor is what worked better years ago then the pristiq now who knows but I'll be patient with the pristiq this is just so frustrating.

Right the Pristiq changes things slowly I noticed only in short amount of time maybe that is what I'm not use to I have to give it time for sure. Excersize use to be my cure but with no energy right now hard to do I will have to force myself back into it thanks. I hope he does the increase if it needs it thanks. You can always go back down from 100mg to 50mg if I think it's to much right obvioulsy last question how did you know your 150mg was to much to go back down thanks a lot just want my life half way back thank you so much.

I noticed some people are on abilify also was thinking of suggesting that if the Pristiq did not do the trick but heard it had really bad side effects and huge weight gain.

I am debating on asking the P doc to increase the pristiq to 100mg I know it's only been 9 days into it have a littel more energy but I have work and school and family members to take care of have get my energy back eat healthy take vitamins etc.. I am being impatient I know that but not sure what to do?

Yea thanks Karen just hope the pristiq gives me my energy like effexor use to the sleep is from the depression once that lifted last time the sleep improved.
