Thanks guys. I haven't noticed any effects, beneficial or side effects, from it at all. I haven't even gotten the increased energy everyone talks about getting. I talk to a psychiatrist tomorrow for the first time so I'll see what she thinks.

Hi Sara, I have been on Wellbutrin on and off for the past 10 years. I also get the weird taste side effect, and I would describe it similarly to what you did, as a strange metallic kind of flavor. For me, it comes and goes. I just ride it out. As far as the effects of the Wellbutrin, I have to say that I never noticed any kind of euphoric change in how I feel because the effects seem more subtle. Other medications I have tried seemed to make me feel emotionless.

I saw the psychiatrist today for the first time and she took me off the wellbutrin and put me on Celexa 20 mg/day (starting with 10 mg/day for first 6 days) and Geodon 40 mg/day (20 mg/day first 6 days).

Anyone have experience with these? I might make a new post or post in the anxiety and bipolar forums too because geodon is used for bipolar I guess.

She didn't give me a diagnosis just said I had a mood disorder but she didn't like "labels" and since she's only seen me once she said she didn't want to diagnose me.

Hi Sara 14!

I just began taking Wellbutrin. I felt like a zombie the first 2 days. Took 75 mg. the first week and then per doc increased it to 2 pills the 2nd week. By the 2nd week-I felt pretty good! It gives me a lot of energy and motivation to do the things I wasn't able to do-. One thing I noticed is that it curbed my appetite -so if I get involved doing things- I forget to eat.

Hope you do well on it and that it helps you get back in the saddle!

GiGiD, Welcome to the depression forum. It sounds like you are very helpful and have good advice.

The only thing is that this thread is five years old so I don't know if you will get any replies other than mine.

Hi Luqu,

I have noticed a good amount of posts are either talking about the hormones or a book. I am glad this all has worked for you but it isn't for everybody. I just want you to know. Some of us need medications. I took the synthetic hormones for a few years and they helped me. I still needed medication. I am glad you had good results. But your posts are repeating the same information and if you do continue it could be looked at as spam. Just an fyi.

Again, I am glad this has worked for you and that you are feeling better. You can offer support without pushing the hormones and books. Thanks in advance for understanding.
