Any abuse is bad; one is not worse than, less than, or as bad as another.

What happens is that each of the different kinds of abuse causes specific problems. The specifics of the abuse e.g. if there is shock, intimidation, humilitation, threats etc., adds twists to those problems.

What happens next is where the twists become knots. This is just my opinion: I believe that carrying the obediance pressures, the defences, and the angers into adulthood prevents growth. Growth is learning adult ways to handle things, learning and using new coping skills, and maturing in all areas of life.

If this is not caught and averted before a person has to get by in the adult world, it cripples--not like making a person unable to perform--but having difficulty in some area of life. AND then everything needs to get straightened out, which makes it ever so much more tough, but never impossible.

Although I went the long way and worked through everything that had ever bothered me, deep down I believe there is some sort of short cut, even for adults with a bunch of knotted up issues.
