Hi everyone I have been on flouxtine for around 6 weeks nearly 7 and u have felt no difference at all I'm getting more and more hopeless everyday and I want this horrible feeling of depression to leave me!! I'm stressing out because I start year 12 soon and need to be better.
Is there still a chance it could work or should I get off now because I have seen no difference at all ?????
Also did it take you a while if you were on an antidepressant to work and feel a difference ?

It can take six to eight weeks. If after eight weeks you don't feel better, talk to the doc about a new one. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Livv...you should also give a call into your subscriber. Perhaps you were started at the smallest or very low dose? Maybe he or she might decide to increase it a little to help jump start it. Either way, I would definitely call before making any decisions. You never know if they will say themselves...let's try something else! Hang in there. I know this is awful for you! Cass

Whatever you do, DON'T go off the medicine yourself. You could have serious bad effects if you do that. Call the doctor and tell them the meds aren't working. Tell them exactly how you fell. Don't hold back because you're only hurting yourself. You don't want to have to feel this way. Don't worry, there are MANY meds and MANY different strengths of each med.

RIGHT, stay on the med call the doc.

depression. dose not just goaway with some medication.

A Pearson has to work hard with skill to change the tough process.

DBT, CBT, Mindfulness, Meditation, art, music are a few of the skills people use.

Thankyou so much for the replies!! I started on 20mg and went up to 40mg and it hasn't worked so My doctor told me to taper off and start on lexapro. I really hope this works I'm stressing out

Hi Livv. The same thing happened to me as well when I started my first medication. And I was on Zoloft. I know how awful you must be feeling, and hearing be patient, doesn't do you much good at the moment. But please continue to hang in there.....relief will be coming soon! As each of our bodies react differently to each med we sometimes have to do some adjusting. This may not be at the top of your list right now, but exercise, yoga and/or meditating can help for a bit too. Keep posting and we will help you through this! Cass
