I feel really awful--withdrawal

I'm wondering if you can try something over-the-counter to get some sleep in the interim?

I know many people have good luck sleeping with Benadryl or some of the other anti-histamine medications. (Not me, that stuff makes me hyper!)

Maybe your pharmacist can make some suggestions?

Sure hope you can find something to help you rest -- I understand the problem, I am totally useless and in pain without sleep and I need 300 mg of Trazodone to get any rest at all. Peace.

As a self-professed Ambien addict I can say this stuff helps: /www.amazon.com/Advanced-Orthomolecular-Research-AOR-Capsules/dp/B00GXEAGSS. It doesn't promote sleep as aggressively as Ambien does, but it will take the edge off your insomnia.

I have been taking an OTC sleep pill with valerian, melatonin, and the ingredient in benedryl. I also take a muscle relaxant. The issue, I *think* is having been on the drug since 2009. Even though I was taking a low dose, I have not had unmedicated sleep for a LONG time. As those of you with fibro know, a lack of sleep impacts the pain. A lack of deep sleep results in discomfort and movement.

Yesterday I cancelled my afternoon work, took some of the Sleepytime Extra (it does have valerian,) and took an epsom salt bath. I managed to get three hours of sleep before having to get for my evening responsibilities. But my colon is still unhappy--and I couldn't eat dinner after my meeting. Last night I got about 4 hours of sleep, and got up an hour early. I feel okay--but need to last until 7 pm. Even if I am just working online, I still have a good many hours scheduled throughout the day.

I am pretty miffed, too. The law, in an attempt to alleviate a very real prescription drug problem, has ham-fistedly put limitations on lots of different medications. And, insurance companies get mandates which limit the drugs doctors can use to treat patients. I was on ambien because my sleep-pill choice was rozerem, and insurance will not cover it. I am further angered by the shrugs at the pharmacy and by the old doctor. I should just make an appointment with my new doctor. Yeah, I did. Back in the second week of January, I made an appointment for March 27. That was the earliest they could see me. So, new pharmacy sees me as drug-seeking. And my choice for treating the UC is going to Urgent Care, who tell me to make a doctor appointment.

I am off ambien now--for better or worse. This is likely better--though I would have preferred to had a say in the decision and taper off. **growls**

I understand your frustration with the laws and lack of caring for our ailments.

I am going thru the same thing with my chronic head pain.

I didn't sleep real well, but did none the less. Plus I took a nap this afternoon early for an hour.

I find I nap most days.

I hope that your appointment goes well and that you get some help.

Hang in there the best that you can. I am glad that the withdrawal symptoms are subsiding some.

I am trying to think about what I want to say to new doctor tomorrow. it's not her fault--but it could also become an issue--due to the new laws about some classes of medication here in the states. I could be a diva and call the insurance company and make a case of this. But I am not.

I do not want to go back on Ambien--but it has become clear I need some sort of sleep medication. I sleep very lightly, toss and turn and wake up the gentleman, and cannot stay asleep all night. Normally, I wake up in pain after five hours. Or, like last night, my body kept twitching and throbbing when I would try to relax. I got about three hours of very broken sleep, and feel asleep right before my first class this AM.

LOL--there are specific rules that the lawyer has to follow about dates and notifications. I got the "if there are no issues with this, I will be able to make distributions in one month." That was three weeks ago. So, no. Though, I have kinda drifted away from the Mini Clubman--I love the idea, but a large part of the price is the cuteness of it. There is one in Baltimore in my price range and with good enough mileage. But, in terms of bang for my proverbial buck, I am leaning toward the Kia Soul for practicality. Roomy, tons around, still made in manual, and low mileage-late models.

Yay for good doctors! Boo for bureaucracy!

I never knew medicaid puts so many restrictions .I have chronic sleep issues too.Looks like you have restless leg syndrome -I m no doc but have it .

I might be going on medicaid or disability soon but don''t know which meds might go cold turkey on me.

Gosh need to be prepared to change meds ,thats not a good solution.
