Hey, NSSG, I'm gonna give this another try. I'm docked and on a different keyboard; hopefully I won't compose a brilliant ~cough, cough~ post of incredible length only to lose it again like has happened now twice.
Anyway, I'm glad you have dogs and enjoy your dogs. I have two dogs myself, Max and Nala. I got max about
four years ago, and he will be five this October. I got Nala about
three and a half years ago, and she just turned eight a little while ago. Max: 13 pounds, Nala: 26 pounds. This is the first time I've had two dogs, but after I got Naughty Max, I knew I needed something -- ANYTHING -- to entertain him or I'd slap him silly everyday (just kidding). So I got Nala. She's my Zen dog and she makes up for all of Max's naughtiness. I love a naughty boy, though, don't you? What kind of dogs do you have?
So you like to garden. Do you garden with flowers and plants or veggies? I have a lot of perennials in my garden but I hate gardening. My cousin lived with me for about
a year probably seven or eight years ago when her marriage fell apart, and she wanted to make a garden so I said have at it. She made this gorgeous garden and I've just let it go to pot. I have a lot of cone flowers and black-eyed susans who have planted themselves E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E in the garden. I need to get out there and get rid of some of the volunteer stuff that has popped up and is pushing out the stuff she or I planted. But, as I said, I hate gardening mostly because I'm fat and out of shape and after two minutes, my face and scalp are dripping wet.
So you like to bake. I used to be a pretty good cook, but I've lost the touch. I have lived alone for so long, and my depression makes my energy non-existent, that I don't bother with much cooking.
open a can of soup. Toast is considered cooked food. So what kinds of things do you like to bake? I imagine sweets, or maybe breads. I once learned how to make homemade croissants and used to make those for family dinners. Now? TOO MUCH WORK. What is your special dish?
I love to design and decorate, too, but I'm really not that good at it. I live in an older bungalow in a small-ish town, and I've done every room a few times. about
10 years ago, I took out my kitchen and bathroom, office down to the studs. Did that and then did the rest of my house with new furniture, paint, fixtures, flooring, and a remodeled the bathroom upstairs, too. Laid lots of tile. Lots and lots of tile. What's funny is most of my house was wallpapered from one of the previous times I'd redecorated, and I stripped and painted everything. Well, gol darn it, wallpaper is coming back into style! Crazy.
If you garage sale and like antiques, you must find stuff to redecorate on your shopping trips. My mom used to be in the resale business, for probably 25 years or so, down in Texas. At 76, we FINALLY convinced her that it was time to move home. She just loved it; sold high-end antiques in malls and then sold a lot of junk in a flea market on weekends. When I'd go see her, you had to do what she did because she wasn't gonna change her routine, and man, did she wipe me out. This is the woman who got a J pouch somewhere around 1984 or so and was 25 years older than me!
I used to buy and sell a bit myself, but it was strictly for fun. I have found some amazing things at sales that I've gotten really cheap when I know they are valuable, or I come home and look them up and discover they are really valuable. My eye always travels first to glass. Love glass, but you can get taken on reproductions so easily with glass. ~sigh~
The saga of my trying to get my meds handled continues. I told you, I think, that I can have a preliminary intake with a social worker at Mayo on 10/30, then have to probably wait to see the doctor another whatever number of months. Well, I left a message at my clinic I've been a patient of for the past six or seven years, requesting an appointment. My psychiatrist retired in December 2017. Well, I got a call back and the only way I could get in there at all is if I had a referral from one of their docs, in their clinic. No, my Mayo doc could not refer me. No, my being a patient for six years did not negate the need for a referral from one of their docs, and they were at that time making appointments in December at the soonest. I mean, come on. My being a patient there meant nothing, and if it did, it would still mean a five month wait for an appointment. It's really crazy. It is, effectively, unavailable. People talk about
how wrong it would be to go to "socialized" medicine, and I don't want to get into the pros and cons of that issue, but they say people in those countries have to wait forever to see a doc or specialist. Well, the same is true here with psychiatrists, at least in my little neck of the woods.
Well, I think I got through this without losing anything (FINALLY!) and I've just printed a couple of jobs, so I'm going to put those together and get out of the office for the day. My kitchen -- hell, my house -- is a total disaster, so after I get those jobs together and ready for delivery/mailing, I'm gonna try to pick up and dust, sweep around here. It's pretty disgusting. I hope the weather is giving you a break, but I kinda doubt it is. Supposed to be 90 here today. I know what let's do. How about
we go out gardening for the afternoon. Shoot me now.
Signing off, NSSG. Sorry it took me so long to reply. I'll pray for a cool front for both of us!
