Hi All. I am one of the old-timers lurking. I don't know why I have always had such a hard time posting. But anyways, I am doing okay. I have actually been feeling better lately. To be honest, I have been feeling good and happy too. That's something I haven't felt in a long, long time.

Hi Cass! Good to see you and hear you're doing well!

My grandson helped me get the primer up on the bedroom ceiling today. It's a bonding primer, so hopefully, no more peeling! I was determined to prime the area where I tore out the built in cabinets, too! I traipsed around on top of the mattress and Austin did the rest beyond the bed. He's over 6ft tall, so it was simple for him!

Next nice, dry day I will get the whole ceiling painted and plan to tape off about 3 inches on the wall and paint it so it resembles crown molding when I do the trim. Still have to pick up the wall color. I'll be hanging curtains across an entire wall and painting the rest antique white to match the fabric. Got a nice set of curtains for the other window.

I picked up some pre cut pieces of wood to try to fashion window trim. Starting in the kitchen. I have a feeling my son will be buying me a table saw or giving me a gift card from Lowe's that I can use toward getting one for myself! Then, I'll only have to buy sheets of thin plywood and cut pieces from it myself! I am determined to get the trim done on all 13 windows!

Brought several of the tropical plants in...our temps are dropping like a stone! Hope I can succeed in over wintering them indoors!

I haven't been around in awhile either
After going through my mom's end from August 2017-Jan 2018 while working 2 stressful jobs and family dramas, then wrapping up her estate which lasted until July 2018, I had a slight reprieve and welcomed my first grandson to the world! I still had some bouts of what I felt like was PTSD from taking care of my mom same time last year but was learning to relax. So what happens? 3 weeks ago I found out the place I've worked out and helped start up is closing and now I have to help shut it down. It's more then a job to me and I'm feeling too old to have to start all over again. Emotional roller coaster all over again. I look in the mirror and I see how much I've aged in a year. How much can one soul take?

HI Weary,,,

Don't give up. You never know what is just around the corner. You have been through a lot. Can you pick up some hours on your other job? Or think of it as a rest period? I am sure you will find something else. I know how it feels though. We are getting a dollar general in our little town. I thought about putting in an application for cashier or something. But I have fibromyalgia and now diabetes. I have to eat every two hours. I doubt anybody would hire me. But you do never know unless you try. You are going to make it Weary.... Have faith in yourself.

I am sorry to hear this. But we go through it. And it does end. It is easy to be angry at people that leave us. No matter how they leave. Or angry at God for taking them. I know it isn't really comparable, but I lost my sweet dog suddenly on May 15. I am still grieving. It is so hard when you are use to having somebody in your life and then they are gone. Hang in there Weary... It will get better with time.

this has been a extreme week. extreme ups and downs and unfortunately because of the moving situation my whole family is feeling it. so their no help.

we're all stuck in this cycle of contributing to the stress.

plus i have the problem of over analyzing stuff and trying to come up with info to support mine or their points from a previous discussion (calm talking/argument/don't care) so I'm trying to not do that as I write this (bc this time was an argument) but it's annoyingly not easy to do so.

plus side (?) to today was that I actually went outside. while I don't have the extreme fear of leaving my home, I hate interacting with people outside. so I just don't go out.

I am glad you got outside today. The most I go out is doctor's appointments and shopping. I do go out and feed the birds. I like to walk.. It always does me some good. But the weather has been crappy, rain, snow. Today looks partly sunny so we will see.

I think it is kind of sad that you hate to interact with people outside of your home, but maybe you got crappy neighbors or something. I prefer being home but do try to interact some when I am out. People I don't know are easiest to me.

Overthinking or overanalyzing things can get you into trouble. Like they say, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. I have a tendency to do that myself. I try not to. I always try to give the benefit of a doubt. See the obvious. Though the rest of it is still there.

Stress can be a killer. So try to keep it down to a minimum. It can cause all kinds of ailments. I learned that years ago fortunately. So I avoid it.

I hope that today is a good day for you Mariano. Take things one day (one moment if you have to) at a time.

Hi all. I guess winter is officially on it's way. I took out my air conditioner last night and wore my new winter coat today. This is always a depressing time of year for me. I hope to somehow stay ahead of it this year. I just got home from work. It's late and I'm starving and exhausted. Trying to take better car es of myself now that my daughter is away at college. Have a good night all!

So much to share! I finally painted the bedroom ceiling and built a 'box' with a sliding door to cover up the electrical boxes in my bedroom. Cut a piece of paneling to repair the wall under the a.c. window.

Have yet to paint the walls but did pick a color...Antique Silver. It's a bit darker than the living room and hall but should flow nicely.

Today, I pulled most of the canna plants from their pots, washed the dirt from the roots, trimmed off the foliage and put them to dry and then bagged them for the next few months.

I'm hurting from all the activity, but am enjoying the accomplishments!

I also brought in many of the tropical plants, hoping to over winter them and be able to enjoy them next year. Maybe I'll get some more of my amaryllis to bloom this year!

Good luck with the amaryllis Pitmom. I got three small bulbs in a pot. I wonder if I should put them in the dark. I heard somebody say something like that. Mine aren't sprouting or doing anything. I am worried if I keep watering them they might rot. I have never done these from small bulbs before. I usually buy the big ones at the store. Somebody gave me these though. They also gave me tulip bulbs and white lily bulbs. I look the other day where I planted them and the squirrels dug some up. That is why I rarely plant bulbs in the ground. I have hyacinths all over the yard from them moving them. I do have a walnut tree that a squirrel planted. So I guess there is good and bad to squirrels. I ended up getting a little off the subject.

Cassandra, Hello to you too! I hope you had a good night. Come here if you get lonely or bored. Maybe it will fill some space since your daughter is gone. I think it is officially winter here too. October has been cold, wet and dreary. I am hoping November is better.

Finished painting the walls in the bedroom. Next I'll do the trim.

I'm thinking that since I never open one of the windows and there's no way to center the bed, I'll put curtains all the way across the wall! Shower curtains can be so fancy anymore and their inexpensive, so I picked up 2 today in a similar shade of gray and a package of cup hooks to hang them from. If I end up not liking the effect, the holes will be easy to fill and touch up and I do have a set of curtains for that window as well. I like to keep my options open. On the other window, the curtains are dark blue. I'll spray paint the finials on the rod so they'll go with the new scheme.

Once the walls are completely done, I'll paint the cabinet I built, get new rugs for either side and put up the artwork I have. I desperately want a mirror in there, too!

I don't remember ever being this excited about a bedroom makeover. I shared a room with my sister growing up and then became a Mom...then a wife...then it was just 'make do'. Oh, and I picked up the candle light bulbs for the chandelier, too! Finally going to have the room of my dreams!

Nice day here today. Only partly sunny but better than cloudy and rain (or snow).

I have an old tom cat hanging around that I have been feeding. I have only seen him through the window but he is eating the food. The day before yesterday he brought us a mouse and left it by the front door. So I guess he appreciates the scraps I leave for him. I decided to get a bag of cat food for him when I go shopping. I don't want to get attached. But he seems to be a good mouser.

October was the worst weather month in forever. I have always remember it being sunny and brisk. I think I got a little SAD. But pushing through it.

I hope you all have a good night. Jamie, I hope you have a good day. Oh and I think we are going to call the cat Garfield. He seems the same color. Stocky cat. Kind of big. Garfield fits. Ha...

Apologies for my absence.

Today would have been out 30th wedding anniversary. However, John choices not to try and and change what he is doing. I am wallowing in my muck, trying to process the grief and move on.

I expect to be back on the forum some time next week.

I can not find the fortitude to read anything, barely to watch TV. My saving grace is the knowledge this will pass and my dogs.

I want to thank Karen and Jamie for being true friends and supporting me through this rough patch. And Karen thank you for handling the load here on the forum without a squeak of dismay!
