We didn’t know that Joyce “met her husband…while both were working as radio personalities at a Manhattan radio station” or that “Joyce's career as an artist included magazine and book illustration, commercial art, and sculpture.”
Her column reflected that same intense desire to distribute information and humor on the Depression thread. Some of her witticisms and comments include the following.
On 6-21-2016, she said, “It's a damp day...however I am enjoying the sound of the rain
One of my favorite Rod McKuen songs/poems from the 1970s is “Do You Like The Rain? (hear it on youtube.com):
It's Raining.
(Da, da, de, da, de)
Do you like the rain?
What do you think about it much?
I've been some places where I'd hoped I'd never know the rain again
But just now it seems alright
One August 28, 2016, a Sunday Smiler by Joyce was:

Just a groaner
You’re not stuck in traffic, you are traffic.
8-25-2016
“Yes, let me 'join the club'....totally exhausted, too. I was blaming OLD AGE....but would prefer another diagnosis.”
7-24-16
“You never know what you have.....
.....until you clean your room”

On 9-22-16, Joyce had a: A 'mature' groaner:
"The older you get the more you have to stay positive
...for instance the other day I fell down the stairs, and instead of getting upset, I just thought 'wow, that's the fastest I've moved in years."

On 9-12-2016
(When I, Tim Tam, was about 12, I sent in a question to a radio program which answered questions and I asked, “What does Jaywalking mean (not walking at crosswalks)?”
Joyce anwered it for me.
"Did you know?
"Jay" used to be slang for "foolish person."
"So when a pedestrian ignored street signs, he was referred to as a "jaywalker."

Joyce signed off a post to Karen:
"TTYL ~ Joyce"
(I don’t know what TTYL means – Tim Tam)
On 10-11-2016 Joyce posted:
Karen, Interesting mix of the two coffee options. Might try that.
Had a pretty good day today. Got the furnace going for the first time.
It was 61 degrees in the house when I got up this morning. Brrrrrr!!
Myself...I so enjoyed learning about your classroom experience. That must have been interesting to experience. How many "passed"
Good luck with your indoor tomato
Jamie...SO good to hear from you. missed ya.
My husband and I moved to this house 11 years ago, and it still doesn't feel like home. Of course we were in the previous house for 35 years, so that may be why.
Lynnwood...Hope you were able to do some of the things on your list. Once you get started and make a 'dent'...the road may be easier. Wish we could help
Trina...what a fantastic find. Haven't had a chance to check out link you posted. Will get to that in the a.m.
F27 That is good news...Thanks for letting us know. Hope things go well with your new routine
Just a bit of added info, I've been taking sleep aids every night for at least ten years. Maybe that's how I've been able to reach the age of 81.
See y'all tomorrow

Joyce, I got a column I’m working on. They reflect somebody I used to know:
"Good humor is a tonic for mind and body. It is the best antidote for anxiety and depression. It is a business asset. It attracts and keep friends. It lightens human burdens. It is the direct route to serenity and contentment."
-Greenville Kleisser
The smallest act of kindness
is worth more than the grandest intention.
- Oscar Wilde
There are two ways of spreading light. To be the candle, or to be the mirror that reflects it.
Oh, one more: Some people are the heart of this thread and one was the soul.
