Feel like I'm in the twilight zone...

I believe a lot of people feel like this. Everything seems so surreal right now.

I'm trying to keep some sort of normalcy. I don't listen to the news much, only read headlines or watch it for a few minutes. I even brought some hair dye to cover my hair; although I can't socially gather with people, I feel like my appearance is also affecting me.

What are some of the things you do to maintain some sort of normalcy?

Forever positive...you bring up a good conversation point. I agree that We are all off kilter....the whole world is. It is surreal.

I have found that most people are comforted by structure and routine. That is very true for me. I can't go to physio so I walk everyday. My daily goal is now 2 miles before noon. I almost always get up by 8am....though usually begrudgingly. Then I start the morning rituals before I go walk. These are just a few little items...open the curtains, feed the cats, make coffee, take dog out...Little routines help me. They can't be too complicated as I get distracted easily, lol, no serious.

I am also learning to celebrate 'MY' success. I try to acknowledge my efforts despite their perceived smallness to others. I filled the coffee pot without dumping water all over. Awesome! I emptied the dishwasher without dropping something. Woo Hoo!! I had a whole conversation on the phone without stuttering and losing my words. Celebrate!

And when the days aren't that good you just have to redefine your success. I made it all the way to the stop sign before I fell this time. Party! Or, Well at least I didn't get frustrated and start cussing/crying/shaking again (that one is rare). I had the whole havent fallen down all month thing going until this afternoon. But I didn't fall on the dog this time, YES! (He's 120 lbs and uninjured) I'm sure I look foolish raising my hands in triumph over mastering the can opener, but this old girl needs all the support and encouragement possible.

I love that you are doing your hair up and pampering yourself. Because you deserve it. And honey ain't nobody else going to do it, so jump on that horse and go for a ride. l think everyone would benefit from more positives. Keep up the self appreciation and keep making you better. Spoken words are strong magic. Remind yourself daily of how beautifully unique you are.

I agree with Karen these are historic times. I do believe this will change our culture (and hopefully help Earth heal from us).
We are learning new boundaries and new ways to be social. Everyone loves change right 😂???

Yes nothing beats the comfort and loving heart of a big dog. Rex is a literal pound puppy. Probably a lab and hound mix. 24" at the withers. You can't feel any bones now and there is no splay in his hips when he sits. No rolls above the tail. He is very solid but not fat. He is my profile picture. A very handsome boy who watches mom wobble around the house when he isn't napping with dad.
Our last baby made it to 16, a very Large black lab. He was 115_120 during his prime.

My folks raised shepherds. They are my favorite, the females we had were typically smaller but so much smarter, more intuitive I always thought. I bet she brings you lots of comfort. They just know somehow.

Rat, sounds like your fur face may have some Great Dane in there. I have a 45lb hound, lab, dane mix. When she stands looking at somethings outside the back legs and swoop of her tail are perfect miniature dane in black. jelly belly hound with roof a rooo, and lab ears and golden brown eyes.
Her name is Doodle.

I am spiritually warmed and inspired for the most part with the reports on how countries are helping each other especially ones such as Italy and a few are trying hard to make a difference for the refugees of Syria.
I will not gets into politics at home.

So many things are out of my control now, I must regress to older habits putting things in compartments to deal with later. The difference is I know that stuff is there now. I can not journal, no time. Busy making masks. Started a local group, gave up the top spot, to much for me. Now I am just sewing, still wearing. I am keeping in mind my limitations.

And I paint, draw, or think about painting, ideas form things like that. Talk to my neighbors, but strange we must keep far apart. The 6 and 7 yr old, find it hard to understand why they can not come near me. So I have stopped going out to say hi to them.

I have medical weed, I get high often, it does help!

Listen to music. Foy Vance, John Prine, Moody Blues, Dawes etcs..
This is historic, It may change the way we live to some extent. The outcome I am looking for, is that people in our country that believed we were untouchable, learn from this. Realize we are part of the Global community and have a responsibility to act as one, with tolerance.

Groundhog day is more like it...repeating the same day, over and over!
This is all pretty 'normal' for me. Routine is a definite help. I must get dressed every day to take the dogs out for exercise. Not getting dressed or grooming, staying in bed, etc. are signs of another round of deeper depression for me, so I avoid getting lax.

The garden helps me see that the days are actually passing as they should. It is a joy for me to go outside to see what has begun blooming today as well as what is finished for it's season. Nature is unaffected by this chaos and marches right along.

I've noticed a bad habit developing for me. I had joined several decorating groups on facebook but lately have found myself scrolling right past those posts, watching for ones about the pandemic. Trying so hard not to give in to the obsession!
