Daily Check In Thread For All #193

I did laundry, made a couple more masks, cleaned out the refrigerator and freezer, cleaned my mother-in-laws bathroom out and organized the tupperware. I was going to make cookies, but I'm too tired. I think I'll go watch Time Team on you tube and crochet. I occasionally get a little down when I'm at home and I get a little anxious at work, but I guess it balances out.

You are kind soul, we have a number a groups in this area making masks

Our group is making masks for a mobil unit at a hospital just north of us. The military people are without masks.
we now have 6 people sewing. I think we are sending over 100 every day there and as many as we can to the local V.A.

The need keeps in increasing.

Frustration is controlled by constant use of skills. Mayors are deciding on controls and lack of controls that are head shaking. This stirs us to work late sewing masks.

Doing this gives us the control of doing something to make a difference

Mike, you also are. making a difference, food is exstremely important at this time, shopping gives people a sense of normalcy, and people like me on a whole food diet, appreciate it!!

Wow, Karen, a hundred masks a day is fantastic. I made them for every one at work and then I kind of ran out of steam.

It snowed Sunday and yesterday - we got about 5 inches. It is supposed to start up again tomorrow and go through the weekend. I am always disappointed when it snows in the spring even though it does it every year. At least I don't have to contend with tornados - was anyone affected by those this weekend?

Still here, still healthy.
The garden took a bit of a hit last night with freezing temps but should rebound all right. Daughter got out of detox a couple of days ago...asked to borrow money 'for food'...I said 'no'...she stormed out. Sigh. I know I did the right thing.

Our mask group has grown to 18 people, we now have 7 people sewing. I think the new people are all working from home, because every 2 day count has not increased that much. My sewing partner from the beginning and I have increased by 10, but that is all we can do.

Elastic is slow in shipping and/or disappears from USPS transit. currently we will soon run out. we have a little bit of bias tape, then will have to take precious material and make straps.

So if any of you sew, or knows someone who sews, if they have bias tape they can donate. Email me and I will give my address. Anything will help .

Trina and Kathy,

You are both so awesome!!! It warms my heart. I feel like I should be doing something, but I am social distancing and right now that is the best I can do. I can brag that I cut some fabric for Trina, but it wasn't a lot. But it did feel good to do.

People like you both remind me that the world is a better place than I imagined.

Actually everybody here gives me hope.

Hello, All. I just wanted to say hello too. I've been home as well. I was laid off from my job about a month ago. Luckily, I have had my second job (i teach english online to students in china) to fall back upon. A decrease in pay is certainly better than nothing is what I've been telling myself

I am lucky that I am healthy. I moved on December 1 to a small apartment in a city (about 23 miles away) from the condo I had been renting for over 9 years in the country. It has been a really big adjustment, but financially it was a necessary decision and I am so glad I did it. It will give me the opportunity to turn things around for myself, once it is safe for all of us to resume our lives.

I think it is wonderful to see so many people helping others, whether it being Mike volunteering at the farm, or Trina (with Karen helping to cut) and others making masks. I have actually noticed that even though it is from a distance, people actually seem to be nice to each other when out. I hope this is something that continues when we get to a new normal.

Me too Cass. And people are coming together from afar. That is wonderful. Luckily with technology we can keep in touch. I don't feel so isolated.

This morning I volunteered at the food pantry. It went well like it always does (I've never had a bad time volunteering there, even though I've been going there for four years or so).

How much snow accumulated on the ground, Karen?
